Default Whats a good sub?

I had a mtx 8100d and a punch p3 and the speaker ripped after a couple of weeks. once this happened i decide to downgrade to get rid of alot of that excess wieght plus i wasnt using all the power. now i have a punch mono amp (not sure exact model num) its pushing 250 or 300 rms which is really all i need. i got the punch p2 because it was rated at 250 rms. i thought wow what a perfect match, and what do you kno the darn thing ripped on me!!! whats a good durable sub? as much as people love rockford subs i am not to sure bout there durability.

anything from elemental designs will beat the sh#t outta those RF's. plus everything has a 3 year warranty. all of their subs are designed as SQ subs that produce top notch SPL. probably the best SQ subs out today value-wise. you're gonna be lookin at stuff that costs north of 500 bucks to find sq subs that are better than eD's. here's their full line up on this page... http://www.edesignaudio.com/edv2/index.php?cPath=1_21

give us a few more specifics about what you're lookin for and we'll be able to help you out...like size of sub, box size, what you're looking for sound wise..etc.

well with 200-300 watts nothing is gonna blow anything. i do suggest going with one of these.

great sound quality, great price and a good looking sub.

i understand thats not alot of power but i dont want to under-power it either. it doesnt have to be rockford i just got the p2 cause it was a crazy deal. but the one pictured above has to be powerful look at the magnet. which made me say im not tryin to blow my hatch open.

I dont know why some people love ED personally you want REALLY good sound quality go with JL, Image Dynamics, or Diamond Audio... From my 3 years in 2 different car audio shops those are my top 3 for SQ for a good mix of SQ and SPL at a good price look kicker L7, in a sealed box or Adire Audio Brahma but idk if they are around anymore

i dunno have you ever used their stuff woody?

i used to be a big JL guy until i listened to their stuff and personally its the same quality if not better for a 1/3 of the cost. I'll probably never do anything else because i just can't justify spending that much for a name.

Go with Image Dynamics. Their subs are super effecient so you don't need much power. 300 Watts should be perfect with an Image Dynamics IDQ12 or IDQ15. They are known for great sound quality and get plenty loud with that little power. Just stay away from Audiobahn, they have a poor reputation for a reason.

TREO ..... i just replaced my Alpine Type-r with one of their SSI 10" woofers. it totally blows the alpine away. the thing has great excursion off of only 300 watts rms. i can't wait to put 750 to it like they recommend.

Now that is a shameless plug, the E's are decent at best nowhere near competitive for "Good" SQ or SPL

nebster - I have heard an ED set up in 2 different cars and was not impressed with either of their capabilities compared to a JL or ID now I do understand that both set ups could have used more tuning and it was set to a personal preference but I have yet to see someone show me the rage bout them. I will openly admit I was wrong if thats the case and I do hope it is bc from what I have seen its promising stuff and the price tag is unbeatable.... i just have no good backing for them

im not tryin to be mean....but if you ever get the chance...you should order somethin and try it out to your own specs....if you still dont like how it sounds then bash all you want man, you got the right.

and i do agree, that was a shameless plug, those things suck.
