will a JL 1000 watt amp drain all my power in my tC?
ok how about you do the smart thing and get one of these (seriously)

I'm sorry guys, but a cap is a band-aid for a more serious problem, aka, your charging system is too small.
Invest in a better alternator, a bigger batter, hell, do the big 3(walk-through for a tC soon).
Just the big three will remove almost all dimming....stock 8 awg wires weren't made for 2kw+ stereos. Me, I've got a Yellow Top, not installed yet, because it went through a crash and I want to inspect it more before putting it in my baby. But the big-3 will be the cheapest, easiest one to reduce almost all dimming.
Big 3:
+ from batt to alt
- from batt to chassis
- from batt to engine
And please, please, PLEASE do NOT buy a cap. Fix the problem.
There are 2 things in electricity...things that make it and things that use it. Caps sure don't make it....they actually create a constant load on the alt when they're recharging rather than the short burst that comes from a loud bass note.

But the guy selling it is a idiot, thats not a cap its a normal lead-acid battery with 800 CCA.
I'm saddened today by nearly ALL OF YOU
Obviously every one of you could use some of JL's tutorial pages (in their site)
One said it correct, current available verses current draw.
Factory altenators were built for STOCK vehicles!
When your needing more than 25% more current than available
YOU MUST increase the source of current ie: Altenator
Additional batteries and caps only strain the stock altenator, they DO NOT
suppliment it!!!
the rest of most of your comments are only
ughhh.... sometimes being in this Audio Industry is frustrating!

I've seen people go out and by top notch equipment all the time but skimp out on things like install, and accessories to make the most out of there systems...
please don't go out and buy the 1000/1 if you can't afford the alternator to run it...
you might as well take your Porsche 911 turbo and taking it to jiffy lube for it's 19.99 oil change special...
or
spraying 150 shot on your stock 1.5 blocks (thinking it will last)...

Me Personally I believe in unregulated power supplies for "dynamic headroom".
Real or not? I'm not an engineer or professional audiophile. I just know what I like.
I believe JLs belief is if the amp has the right capacitance already, there is no need for an external cap.
Have you taken apart some inexpensive amps? You can see the tiny capacitors they have, meaning it will pull more from your battery.

I personally like regulated amps, since I feel that they are more consistant when producing sound... tweeters take less power to make them loud, so when they get a spike, or boost in power, the sound tends to change...
I am not sure of any units on the market that can help compensate for this, so until then i favor regulated amps for sq.
I like unregulated amps for spl... more power in, more power out...
