Look for a line out converter. It takes the speaker outputs and converts them to RCA outputs. I'd recommend installing it behind the headunit so if you do ever switch to an aftermarket hu, the RCAs will already be back there.

Search around on this site and you will find lots of information on this.

Go to this site and buy this add-n-amp harness kit connector thing. It will plug into your stock HU and then give you RCA outputs for your sub. There is even a place on there to put you rremote wiring to make it even easier. It costs about $40 and I recommend the rear speaker harness because you can use the front & rear setting to adjust the bass and you wouldn't want to drown out the front.

Let me know if you have more questions...

So I'll need 2 of those Add-n-Amp Harnesses if I'll be adding 2 amps to my stock headunit? Good to know, thanks.

Yes, but you can buy a harness he sells that already has TWO rca outputs on it.. Just let him know that you are going to have two amps.

I did this at first, sub & amp w/ stock headunit, and take it from me.. It's well worth it to get an aftermarket headunit. The change in sound quality is amazing.

And, Scion pride themselves on selling a car line that is intended for modification, but why in the hell would they have Pioneer make a HU w/o RCA's? Anyways, I agree w/ elecTriC, the sound quality changes completely with a good HU. But, my girl wants to keep the warranty as long as possible, so I have to be careful what I do, and that means no new HU. Oh well... At least I got to install subs and an amp.

You could do it, but I wouldn't recommend it. It won't sound nearly as good as if you had a nice Eclipse HU in there.

Plus, the tC has a door so people can't see what you have

for my setup, i used an RCA line-out converter and tapped into my rear speaker wires for my amp signal. i think it sounds pretty darn good. im sure it'd sound better with an aftermarket HU, but i did the install right, took my time, adjusted settings, and its really nice. if you're running the stock HU, i find that these settings are the best for general listening:

Treble: 5
Bass: 0
Front/Rear Balance: R1
HU Mode: tC

after that, you just tweak your amp settings (filtering, etc.) and you're good to go. i have a remote gain **** that i mounted next to my driver seat, so if i need to turn up my sub, i just turn the ****.

Anybody try this yet: JL Audio CleanSweep
Looks to be a good solution for those wanting to keep the stock headunit and get aftermarket headunit sound.
