Default wiring help

hey everyone,
so i have some oznium cathodes in my footwells hooked up to an OEM switch (they work great i would highly recomend them). but i just got some more lights, these are LED bars, (they didn't make a good color orange in the cathodes). i would like to run them off the same switch so i don't have to buy another one.

when the lights got here i tryed to install them myself because i got the cathodes is, so i thought i could do it easy, well i was wrong.

i am just going to list the steps i did, and if something isn't right please tell me.
1.) cut the wire headed out of the switch to the cathodes
2.) spliced in another wire to carry power from the switch to center consol
3.) attached the wire with the positive end of the LED
4.) picked a nice spot to ground the other end of the LED
5.) turned on ACC and flipped the switch.
at this point only my cathodes were lit. to check if the wire was carying power i bravely (or stupidly) put my tounge to the wire (not really, i did touch it though) and there was nothing.
i have no idea where i went wrong, please help.

also, i also installed some cupholder lights; however, i had to use a 9volt battery as my power sorce. for whatever reason i couldn't get it to work from my cig lighter. i got the DIY from another thread on here, and it worked for everyone else, but i couldn't do it. i got them to work with the bttery just fine, i was just saying this to see if there might have been something i missed.

if anyones interested i'll post a picture of my car when im done.

thanks for your help.

Try splicing the negative into the negative of the cathodes, that may fix that.

As for your cup holder lights, my cig lighter wires were counter intuitive, power was black and ground was white, maybe that was your problem there as well?

No, bc they were red and black, also I double checked on the battery.

Soy you're saying take the grounding wire of the cathodes, and hook it up to the negative or positive of the LED? Then

If there's anyone out there who can understand a skimmatic drawing of the situation, I can make one and post the pic

Hmmmm... This is a pickle. I'm not sure where to direct you now. For my lighting I ran a dedicated negative back to the negative battery terminal. Get a long wire to connect your led bar net to the batt neg and see if it works that way with your positive still hooked up as it is.

Damn dude.
I have to say I had this same issue. But I think I ended up making sure all grounds went to the same place. Whether you run ground from battery to chassis and then ground stuff to that or run all to negative on the battery.

But if I needed to do that wouldn't I have had to do it for the cathodes?

The spot you chose to ground the leds may have just been a bad spot or something
