Default Wiring On/Off/On switch

alright so i ordered a scion style rocker switch from oznium that is a On/Off/On switch
this is what I'm planning on doing and can't for the love of me figure this out

im installing 4 LEDs into the engine bay of my car

what i wanted to do is when the switch is up and with the ignition on i want the front LED to be the only one lit up

and when the switch is down with ignition off i would love for all the lights to be on but i don't know if thats possible so what i was settling for was to just have the other 3 LEDs lit up.

i have this image of a wiring diagram and that makes perfect sense but i can't figure out would i run a consistent 12V source in because i want one of the set of lights to be able to be used with the car off or do i run a switched( ignition on) 12V source in

thanks

Use Ground for the center (common) connection. For one set of led's run the other wire to battery positive and for the other's- to Ignition ON source.

alright so i decided to draw it up and this is what I'm at

basically LED1 is going to be the ignition switched LED and LED 2 is going to be the fully switched LED

but I'm still confused on how to actually run the wires

I'm not sure what you want. Do a truth table. Example

ignition | Switch position | LED Cluster 1 | LED CLuster 2
------------------------------------------------------------------------
off | off | off | off
off | down | off | on
off | up | off | off
on | off |...
on | down
on | up

Obviously this is incomplete and you would need to fill in your own values for LED clusters 1 and 2. This will let us know exaclty what you want so that we can help you design a circuit.

EDIT: cant figure out how to format as plain text but you get the idea

Switch up, ignition on: One LED
Switch up, ignition off: Nothing
Switch down: All LEDs

Connect the center of the switch to power. connect the bottom position directly to all of the lights. Connect the top of the switch to the single led through a relay triggered by the ignition.

Radio shack carries a 12 volt "automotive" relay. make sure it's single pole single throw normally open.

Also, you will need to either not have the one led come on when the switch is down or put a diode between that one led and the others so when you power up the single led power doesn't also go to the others. Or you can use an arduino micro controller.

alright makes sense it might be easier to just not make that one LED come on with the rest because i really am a amateur at wiring obviously and don't want to mess around with a diode
