xbox under passenger seat
If i were to take the passenger seat out and then mount the xbox and then replace the seat but instead of bolting it directly to the floor what if i used some washers or spacers to elevate it just an inch or 2 would that be enough room? I really want to put an xbox in my car. help!
Search around and find a thread about someone that took there xbox apart and mounted it all over his car. i think it was titled "tC no X-Rated" or something like that. Might give you some good ideas.
The problem I see with it under the seat is access. It might be hard to reach and put a game in or plug in a controller.

Taking apart the xbox is simple and makes hiding an xbox in the car much easier. There is alot of room behind the HU where things like the MoBo could be mounted. The DVD drive would also fit nicely if you had a 1-DIN HU with the empty pocket or in the cubby hole by the lighter plug.
www.xbox-scene.com has lots of walkthru's and a plethora of info on the xbox. Im sure you could find valauble info on dismantling the xbox and getting everything running while still being seperated.
Another idea could be scrapping the DVD drive altogether and just putting in a 200gb HDD and saving all your games on the drive...
And if you take everything apart, the glove box would also work to hide all of the xbox components...

the xbox wont fit under either seat, no. That is the first place I tried as well. The xbox is just way to tall. taking it apart requires advanced skills- there is definately not enough room behind the head unit for parts [i dont know why people keep saying there is]. The glove compartment... again I doubt it, but maybe if you took it all apart - but i still think the mobo would be too big.
I ended up mounting mine under the trunk liner, on the right side in the foam cubby holder. I had to slice and dice it up pretty good [the foam box] in order to get the box to fit snuggly. cutting off the right side wall of the foam box is necessary as well so the box doesnt hit the spare tire. I then had someone from these forums turn one of the controller ports into an on/off button which I mounted on the dash.
Let me know if you want pictures.

i went through the AUX port. cheapest and fastest way.
as far as the subs. I dont know anything about that. after about 2 months my xbox hdd is fine from driving and bounces and everything. - i dont have a sub though. i would say it wouldnt be a problem, but dont hold me to that.

first off it won't fit under the driver's seat, because you have that memory contraption. you can get it to fit under the pass seat, but only if you remove the dvd and hdd and 'section' the box...meaning get your dremel out and remove the 2 inches in height occupied by the drives.
you will hear the fans which could be annoying.
you can forget about getting the mobo in the glovebox or behind the headunit..that makes no sense. you can forget about getting the dvd drive in the center console.. it is a non-standard size..much larger in dimension than a computer dvd drive. you could of course try to wire up a computer dvd drive but that has it's own set of headaches and functional issues that i won't even go into here.
i love the guys who tell you to scrap the dvd and just load up a large drive. then they neglect to mention how you should get additional games onto the unit. anyway..
subs should not screw up your hdd. you should worry more about big fat nasty potholes..but there are ways around that too. i recently upgraded my install and swapped in a laptop harddrive that can withstand more vibration and temperature change than a desktop hdd.
