Default !@#%#$#@@#$#@ crack in the windshield

so 2 days ago i drove home from school and my car looked fine well yesturday i was out driving and it was raining so i never noticed anything different well today i go out get in my car drive up to the first stop sign and i see something. pull the e brake get out and sure enough a crack in the damn windshield right in the center....im ____ed...3rd car i had and never had a cracked windshield.

its a small crack but i notice it. so i look around my car to see if theres anything else...sure enough there is. paint chips on the front bumper more towards the passanger side. looks like i need some touch up paint.

as for the windshield im gonna call the insurance soon and have them fix it. i have $100 deductable and i found a place that will come out to my house to fix it. they quoted me at 350 for it so ill pay a 100 and let the insurance take care of the rest

what sucks is i just had my eyebrow tinted not to long ago. i wonder if insurance will cover that

anyways anyone else have there windshield replaced?

ill post pics tomorrow

Is it a crack or a chip? Depending on the size, Permatex make a Windshield Repair Kit for about $10. It looks like the same method they use when they come to your house to do the repair. By the way, I had mine repaired by the insurance company for about $85.

last night I went out and visit my gf and when I was about to leave notice a crack in the passanger bottom corner. it kind looks is was done with a little rock or bb (I didn;t drove it in fwy last night) but the wierd thing is that is glass look it crack from the inside of the glass. if you feel the glass from inside the car you don;t feel the crack and also on the out side you won;t feel the crack or the glass chips. it is almost like there is three layer of glass and only the one of the middle is broken. I called the dealer and asked for the price of the windshied but the told me that i have to bring it in to get an estimate. do any of guys knows how much is the dealer price?? I call one shop and I was quote $245.

ok do somthing called "the Pen Test" if you run a fine point pen over the point of the cracks origin and you feel no chip from an impact of an object...then it has to be coverd by the dealership....
in other words.... if for sure, NOTHING HIT IT... then its not your fault, its the manufacturer's faulty part.... not yours...

if the first dealer says its not their problem... then kindly as them why and to show you where the impact was... if they cant do it then tell them, (kindly) to fix it.... if they still wont, then take it to some other dealerships... thats how I did it. the first dealer said NO I never went back there ) I took it to another and they fixed it no problem...

I had my windsheild cracked (about 1 inch long) last summer right in the middle as well. I had it fixed for around $80 which insurance covered but the shop did a terrible job and I can still see where it was at. Depending on the length of the crack I would recommend getting a whole new windsheild after my experience. Good luck with your decision though!

got my windshield cracked from a rock on the fwy and it was small at first--didnt notice it much-then i take the car for a wash and it got a little longer--THEN-later that night it was cold for some reason and in the morning my crack went from penny size in the passenger side to straight line towards the driverside----horrible feeling-still lokin to repair it-lowest quote i got was $180 installed

I have two chips in my windshield that have been filled. It cost me about $45 for each.

According to the guy who fixed the last one, as long as the crack is not any bigger than a quarter in size it can be filled.

He also told me that our windshields are the cheapest part to replace, but it is the seal around the windshield that is the expensive part. Apparently the seal is one piece all the way around.

So if you can patch it, that would be the best thing to do.

I also have $0 deductable on glass. I have state farm insurance and pay just over $500 for 6 months on my policy. I had one windshield replaced and then a large chip filled on my old car. I think there is no limit on glass coverage as long as you're not getting a new windshield every month or something crazy like that.
