Default '05 tricked out - or 06 toned down

So my dealer has an 05 Indigo Ink pearl with the following options:
Ground Effects Kit
Custom Black Leather interior
Release 1.0 Rims (18" w/ Tires)
Pedestrial Spoiler
OBX Shift ****
OBX Pedals
Front sway bar
Scion logo on rear bumper
TRD Exhaust system

After installing the Scion security, he's willing to give it to me for 20+. My other option is to get an 06 with leather and the iPod stereo for roughly the same price. The 06 is a light blue color - i'm not a huge fan of that. They would have to install the leather and the iPod head unit.
I can't seem to decide which one to go with. The only thing I don't get with the 05 is the audio control's on the steering wheel. But I get a lot of the other accessories for a pretty good price I think - and as per Scion's site, that car would come to 21k without the leather. I figure the leather has gotta cost around $1,500k.

Anyone with the 18" rims or the R1.0 rims dislike em' for any reason? During my test drive - I didn't find them any rougher than the regular 17" rims. If you were given the choice - which would you pick?

Get the 05!!!! Simple. I believe that it has been discussed on here before that if you really want steering wheel controls, I do believe they can be installed on an 05. But, if I were you I would SO go for the '05. Especially if it really has the release series 1.0 rims on it.

I am glad I asked - I think the R1.0 rims make this a deal I can't pass up...
Here are a couple of pics. I am going to put my deposit down first thing tomorrow morning

is it true that the '06 steering wheel can be installed after the fact? If so, how much more damage am I lookin' at? Also, would that require the installation of a new head unit as well? I was thinking of going with the Pioneer AVIC-D1
unit. I've been told by a few people that the Scion tC steering controls actually control some of the navigation features - which is sick I think.

That is such BS, i mean the dealer will probably charge that but it cost them no more than 250 bucks. I know because the owner of the toyota dealership told me himself after i bought my car

see, I find that hard to believe. For one, it's not just the front two seats that are leather. It's also the entire back seat and all the door moldings that were fabric. So basically there is no fabric in this car at all now. Just the time/effort to put the leather in would be around $250. The R2.0 rims and tires alone are around 2k. That itself would bring the price of the car to around 19k.

I love my '06, but for what you're comparing, I'd get the '05 in a heartbeat. Espeically if you don't like Azure Pearl.

I worked for a shop that installed leather and I can assure you that its more than 250. The leather kits were around 500-800 cost depending on the car with about 4-6 hours install time. Now if you are paying 250 it must be a total crap fake leather kit that isnt exact fit. Custom leather is around $1200+ min that I've seen. You pay for alot more man hours for custom.

Do you want all of the options the 05 has? Do you like the color? Do you like the look and feel of the leather? How many miles are on it? Be sure to have the salesperson put the price he's offering on the 05 in writing before you get too excited. The Indigo Ink color is no longer offered so if you like it, you will be one of the few out there who has it. Leather is definitely not $1500 BTW.

Where do you live? The reason I ask is the quality of roads and whether or not you have snow would be a deciding factor regarding the 18s with summer tires on them with a low low profile. You may not have noticed in your short test drive, but a lower profile tire definitely makes a difference when it comes to pot holes and bending rims. The good news is the 18s are not heavier than the 17s though.

If you can live without the steering wheel controls, you don't live where it snows (or you were planning on a winter set of wheels/tires anyway), and you like all of the options and color, the price is good and you should get it. Just don't be blinded by the fact that it is right there in front of you and looks good. The 06 they have there may be Azure Peal but they can get them in whatever color you want. You don't want any regrets so get what you really want. Good luck.

The thing is none of you guys know what kind of hookups/deals that dealership has with people. Fair-Market Value doesn't mean anything to business owners. I've seen an EB Games owner trade a new X-BOX for 2 XL Pizzas.
They could just make it up on their next trade with them.

Or the dealer could get them for free, because some kid bought an RS 1.0 and then swapped the rims for the others at the dealership, and then didn't ask for the originals back.

BTW this thread has been hi-jacked we've all been discussing a post where a number was just thrown out someone's butt.

How many miles did that '05 have? My guess is that was the dealer "test" car, since it had so many options on it. You know, like the "show-off" car each dealer usually has sitting out?

So the car had 75 miles on the odometer when I drove it. I probably added like 15. The color is definitely my second choice - silver being the first. All the options are what I would ideally have wanted, but leather was definitely something I wanted - having had it in all the cars I owned - including the Maxima I totaled - which is why i'm sort of despirate to get a car now. The other think i'm factoring in is the cost of my rental if I wait to get a sliver. That color is hard to come by - none of the dealers in the Boston area have one. The 18's I believe were taken off a R1.0 edition. Infact, the '06 I drove had over a hundred miles - so the '05 actually has less miles.

One thing I have to consider is if i'll get rid of the car in a few years - that would be the only reason to get an '06 - because it will be one model year newer.

Thanks for the advise you guys. I am definitely getting this car. The dealer has given me a written deal - which is good till Tuesday.

Anyone have the Pioneer AVIC-D1 Nav unit in a Scion - tC?

BTW - the front sway is also a TRD brand. I think that's the Toyota Sporting Division - right? So the R1.0 rims look just like the 18's that are offered by Scion as the upgrade - except they are darker. They wouldn't look right on a lighter color I don't think. The quality of the leather is good. I would rate it better than my maxima - and the craftsmanship is awesome too. I spent about an hour examining the car to make sure there wasn't anything about it I didn't like. The TRD exhaust may be something that has to go - too loud for my liking...

It's a done deal! Got the car today... Love it!

It took them a while to get the scion security installed - but finally the car is in my drive way. The one thing the dealer said was that he didn't think he could install the '06 steering wheel on the '05's.

The wheels' are off the hook!
