Default '07 tC fuel pump went bad

I've had my 2007 tC less than 5 days and put on 235 miles and my fuel pump went bad! is this something common with these cars or what? I didn't think Scions were THAT cheap. Atleast the dealership is gonna take a closer look tomorrow and replace it... argh!

I've never heard of that happening on a tC. Sorry for your bad luck. Glad you took it in to get it taken care of.

might want to give us the last 6 digits of your VIN in case this starts to become a problem.. we can trace it like we did with rattles before..

Looks like if we get more of these we know they changed more than just the intake, exhaust for the 07's..

Calm down, you can get bad parts from anywhere out of the box, regardless of make. I have never heard of a fuel pump going bad so far on one of these. You most likely just got unlucky and had a bad one. That is what warranty is for.

Next, do you KNOW the pump is bad? It can be the relay, a bad connection, a fuse, or even a bad component elsewhere on the car that is preventing the pump from running.

hopefully, but it's making a loud humming/vibrating noise.. it's loud enough to drown out the engine and radio and as soon as the service tech sat down in my car, he said it was a problem. I'll keep you guys updated.. i'm gonna check up on lemon laws in cali too

Then trade it in then and get a Honduh. Jeez... If cars were made 100% perfect all the time there wouldn't be a need for warrantees then am I right?

This reminds me of when people with the 05's were saying they wanted to trade the car back to the dealership because of the rattles. Seriously man, it is a small problem, the dealer will fix it under warrenty, case closed. You can't make a perfect car every time. Just deal with it.

God.. please do trade it in before you bring un-needed drama here.. we have enough of that already. I have seen parts go bad on new cars of ALL makes.. BMW, HONDA, toyota... all of them. My dad owns a shop.. at which I have worked on and off when I needed work growing up. I have also put on parts that were bad RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX, including parts straight from the OEM manufacturer. It happens, and anyone with any technical related knowledge or experience will tell you the same thing.

You will get laughed at for mentioning the lemon law. A lemon is a car with a larger number of demonstrated issues in a short amount of time on the same vehicle.

You got the FIRST tC I have ever heard of out of three forums and people I know with a bad fuel pump. CALM DOWN, let the dealer fix it and enjoy your car. Dont follow the example of 16 year olds with thier first car screaming fire when the least little thing happens. (no offense to 16 year olds in general.. just an example )

^^ Very correct - no matter what car you get, there's always a possiblity of problem

Case in point: a $1.7 million CLK-GTR LEMON

http://www.carpages.ca/go/autonews/c...ction_car.aspx

Relax about the fuel pump, they're fixing it without a complaint. I think you should be thankful, IMO

Thanks for the link. That's an interesting article.

I'd just like to add one thing: I'd rather have a defective part die right away then 1 mile after my warranty expires.

I've had my 2007 tC since June 30th and I've got over 300 miles on it. Not a single problem. It's probably a fluke. Ask the dealer to find out if your car was made on a friday

LOL, old mechanics tale that workers aren't paying as much attention on a friday as they would any other day of the week.
