Default as-1 line?

so i have a tint strip on my car, got it done at a pretty well known shop here. I went to go get it inspected and the guy says my strip is too low so he fails me. I know it has to go to the as-1 line on the front windshield but for the life of me I don't see one on my car so I have no idea what I should do now.

any help, advice, or comments welcome.

Take it off, get inspection, put back on.

by me there are plenty of sketchy shops where you can "buy" your inspection

Yeah, I'm an inspector here in VA. There are 2 main reasons i fail people, one is for faulty parts that are potentially dangerous and cost money to replace, (my livelihood), and the other is jst because there are people out there who try to screw you, (You pass them and then they end up talking to the state police about how you passed their illegal stuff). Either way, just make really good friends with your mechanic, dont be a know it all jerk, and tip well. Alot of us could care less about your window tint, because even if we fail it, we dont make any money on fixing it, because we dont do that sort of work.

Texas Laws

"Windshield
Sunscreening devices cannot be applied to the windshield unless the conditions below are met.
  1. Sunscreening devices must be applied above the AS-1 line. If there is no AS-1 line, sunscreening devices must end five inches below the top of the windshield. If the AS-1 line is less than five inches from the top of the windshield, it will mark the end of the permissible area. If the AS-1 line is more than five inches from the top pf the windshield the five inch measurement will mark the end of the permissible area."
