you cant use ANY type.

If you go to the parts store they should have some "mix with any color" type antifreeze.

I belive it is green like the regualr stuff but its made differant

Kinda like vodka and water. Look the same but they are differant.

Anyways the mix with any is about 2 dollars more .

Just be sure to read the label.

Just go to Toyota and get some, that any color anti freeze is junk and bad for your car and in a few years your anti freeze stops working properly and you have to flush it out and put new stuff in.
Cause it happened on my Dad's truck.

just be sure you don't mix green and pink - if you're going to swich over, you need to do a full flush meaning empty it, fill it back up with the stuff you want to use (green or water), empty it, and then fill it again with green. Pink is junk and most companies don't use it anymore...

Your owners manual will have a list of what you can use in the car. Also, there are pretty much only 2 companies out there that make antifreeze. They just have different formulas for different cars. Find the formula for your car and then just mix it with water. The color is not indicative of the formula either. Porsche anti-freeze is green, but I have seen the formula that they use in the raw state. Guess what? It is clear with a slight yellow tinge. The green color is added after. If you want pink antifreeze, then get the right formula and put a small amount of red food coloring in it. You can make it blue if you want to. The food coloring won't hurt your car a bit =). Might be a cool engine mod if you can find reliable clear radiator tubing actually. Have strange colors of antifreeze running through the car.

As for the car running a bit more rough in the cold, that is because the oil and other lubricants are thicker in the cold. Your tranny oil is the thickest kind of oil and that is why it is hard to shift before it warms up. This is normal. Only thing I could suggest is starting the car up 5 min before you have to go somewhere.

The Pink antifreeze from Toyota isn't junk at all. Just go to Toyota and buy another bottle if you need it. It lasts 100k miles before you need a flush too.

When its cold any car is going to run at a higher RPM and creak / rattle. Its just the different materials in the cars like rubber getting hard and not flexing like it should.

We just notice it more because we have a glass roof.

I bought the Pink stuff (which is red then turns pink after you add water) for $20 from Toyota.

Yep, the pink is toyotas "high performance" antifreeze. only do that so you feel like you HAVE to go to them. but no, any anti freeze will work. but id deffffinantly say full coolant flush before swiching. but its all the same
