Default 2006 Scion vs 2005 Scion

I know the 2005 Scions are only starting to roll out, but when can we expect the 2006 versions to drop? June 2005? I'm in no big rush to buy a new car, so I was thinking that it might be worth waiting a year considering the Scion is a new car and all. It will be interesting to read how the car holds up. Also, since this is a first year car, Toyota will have time to fix little things here and there to make the car that much better.

What do you guys think a used 2005 Scion will go for in a year?

These vehicles have been out for more than a year. Thay have been making them in Japan since about 2001. So this isn't the first year for the vehicles.

Firstly David, the tC is a US car this is the first year for it 2005. (he was talking about the tC)

Secondly Addicted, There is no real way to say what the price of the car is going to be in a year from now. As for the 2006 tC, it will most likely come out around the middle of 2005 when most car dealers release their cars. But as David said the scion brand cars have been around for a while now and the xb's and xa's are holding up fine.

not only do we have a pointless question about the resale value, we now have people posting bogus information about a new 2005 model having come out in 2001. wtf is this place coming to?

Damn woodstock, take it easy! Someone had a question, and someone else had an answer. If you don't have anything nice to say....

I think what Spanish was trying to say is that the xA (Vitz/Yaris/IST) and the xB (BB) have been out in Japan for a while in a slightly different form, but this is the first year for the tC since it's an entirely new car.

I was referring to the TC specifically....... but didn't explicitly say it considering this is the tc subforum.

So let me ask this another way. What changes do you guys expect in the 2006 model? OK, maybe its a stupid, speculative question, but I was curious to hear some comments. For example, what is the chance the sunroof becomes optional? What about changes to the interior?

I have a feeling that due to the high popularity of this car the price tag will go up. They'll probably make a few improvements and jack up the prices! I don't think this car would have trouble selling even if it had an MSRP of say $20,000 with A.T. Supply and demand my friend...supply and demand...

The low entry price is the key to what Scion's about. The xBs and xAs were pretty darn popular and there wasn't a big markup from 04 to 05 nor many changes. It goes against the monospec concept too if you start changing things and making things optional.

I dono man, I have a feeling there will be more tC's on the road then xA's and xB's.

Regardless of overall numbers, there was still a big demand for the vehicles and they kept the pricing structure. If they add a few more things and raise the price then they've just re-created the overpriced Celica and they don't get their Gen Y market into the Toyota family which is the idea behind Scion. They'd be better off making a high-end Toyota or Lexus version based on the platform but leave the tC for the young 'uns to get indoctrinated on...

If they keep the price down they make less on each but can sell more. Then add on a few G's in accessories and they are doing fine and creating a big bunch of Toyota fans in the process...

In theory the 2006 should be better then the 2005 if even slightly. And a mark up to about 20,000 will make the car loose it's main appeal and might as well be rebaged and called a lexus. increase in price = decrease in ability and willingness to buy = drop in demand. simple economics.
