Default 2006 TC mileage

Hello, i just joined this forum because I wanted to get some recommended maintenance intervals for my moms 2016 IA. It has 47K on it and cant find anything in the manual on replacing fluids. I will ask in the related forum.

The reason I came to the TC forum is because I wanted to know how many miles everyone is getting on their 1G TC's.. I had an 06 and at 180K miles it just totally crapped out on me.Took it to the dealer and they replaced the ignition coils and after 2 weeks it started running very rough again. I took it to Firestone, and they hooked it.up and said it needed ignition coil lol... I said naaww, I cant be left stranded on my way to work on the crosstown in the middle of winter. I drove 50 miles a day roundtrip to work. I took it to the Honda dealer and traded it in on a new 2017 Accord. They gave me like $500 for the TC. I was sad to lose that car but couldnt afford to keep throwing money at it...Anyway, I was curious if my problem was just a one off...

Did you try looking in the 'Warranty and Maintenance Guide'? Straight off of Toyota's website...

Toyota IA Warranty and Maintenance Guide

I don't know that the 1G tCs had any particular issues and the fact that you took it to Toyota and then to Firestone when you were having issues leads me to believe that other people likely serviced your vehicle. I'd say if it were taken care of with regular maintenance and timely repairs a tC is a 200K+ mile car and I imagine some people on here have seen 300K+. Not unlike yourself, when cars start having issues people tend to trade them and dealers will 'recondition' them but it becomes someone else's problem at that point as used cars are typically 'As-Is' warranties unless it's through a manufacturer's 'certified' program, which I doubt was the case with your tC.

Pretty sure the car, with some proper troubleshooting and fixes, could have been fixed relatively inexpensively.

Thanks for your reply...I was maintaining it per Scion recommendations.....I never had any problems with it up until then. When I see the dealer has problems repairing their own car thats when I decide to trade it off. I did the same thing with a 97 Nissan Frontier pick-up after just 80K miles on it. I actually traded it on the TC. Now I have a 2017 Accord that I bought new nearing 200K,,,

I have an 05 tC with over 320k on it. Apart from wear and tear items that I've replaced like injectors, coils, alternator, starter and water pump. Also replaced the fuel pump once. She's still running. She burns some oil understandably at this high mileage but not as bad as the oil burn recall for the 07s. I just keep her topped up. Still same engine and auto trans. I did all the repairs myself except for the water pump. Just paid my mechanic to do it. I keep a spare injector and coil with some basic tools in the car. So if I break down on the road. I can quickly swap them out.

Did you idle your tC to warm it up? I read that idling a cold engine is bad for the catalytic converters. Fuel burns inefficiently at idle speed and soot clogs the screens. Makes starting harder and idling rougher.
