Default 2006 TC's????

Ok, I am getting a TC. I wanted to get it now, but I graduate from college at the end of this year, and I want to take advantage of all those benefits. Now I know that they are only making 40K of the TC's this year. Do you guys think that by January they will all be gone? Or do you just think that the huge demand will have deminished by then?

If they are all gone, when will the 2006 TC's come into play? Any ideas on the release dates for them?

Thanks in advance

I dont think they are going to make 40,000 in the first 2 months and then not make any till next model year. They are probably going to be producing them year round. The wait lists at dealer ships should give you an idea on how many are going to be "around". The 2006 tC's should be here in about a year because the 2005s just arrived. ;)

I would venture a guess that a 2006 model release date would now follow the general standards in the car industry of a September / October release in 2005. This year was different in that the tC was a new 2005 early release model.

My prediction of the future is that demand will increase steadily for the car and the wait lists will get longer. Word will continue to get out of how much of a great bargain this car is!

I also think Toyota will also slowly but surely start creeping the price up on the car as they see demand continue to pick up. My .02.

Have had my BCP auto tC for over a month now, and just love it til no end, but the question I keep asking myself is simple???? How can anyone EVER not buy an RSX options "lookalike" for 5,000 cheaper and not be thrilled??? If they stop production, then it stops the best overall deal right now on the market in my opinion (all of these standard features, plus Toyota reliability)!!!! See the tC as the "sensible" car, and if not, stop production after this year, hell, I got mine REALLY early (6-30 to be exact), and absolutely LOVE it!!!!!!

i wish they would stop productions on the scion tc. ya like someone said earlier, i dont want it to be another civic or integ. hopefully this will be the end of tc's, but ya hopefully the pricin would increase on the demand bases of this car. dont you wish your the only tc around your block. almost like driving an enzo or somethin.

Here is my situation: I'm married, have a 1 1/2 year old girl and my son will be born in December. Naturally, I traded in my Eclipse for a Galant, which then got traded for a Mini-Van. I needed a second car, so my dad gave me his old Integra. It's in really bad shape, but I'm hoping it will last till I get my tax return so I can put it down on a TC.

My question is, should I get the TC in February or March when I get my Tax Return, or should I run my Integra to the ground and wait for the 2006 model? Hopefully they will have all the bugs worked out (and maybe ditch that heavy glass roof for a regular one with a singe sunroof?) If it comes out in June, I could wait, but if it's not coming out till the end, I don't know if I can stand another Vegas summer with no air conditioning.

When do you think the 2006 will come out, and what do you think the chances are of them putting a normal roof on there? Thanks.

They'd better not ditch the glass roof, its one of my favorite parts of the car, heavy or not! I use them daily and love it.

MrMeaty, with one child and another on the way, are you sure a sporty coupe is the best way to go, price or not? Meaning, I dont feel its very infant/car-seat friendly as perhaps maybe a sedan since they should not be in the front seat for years due to the airbag. As for when to get the car, you have to wait for tax time anyway, I'd wait til then to see how the integra is doing in terms of reliability and maintenance to see if you need a car then or if you can wait until late summer/fall for the 2006's.

I also certainly hope that you are not taking the problems of a rare few tC owners as a sign of rampant defect issues. Most of us have totally perfect cars.

Though I certainly wish they would stop all tC production so I could continue having a unique car, that just wont happen. I expect them to keep ramping up production to meet the demand. Especially considering the upcoming cancellation of the celica and MR2 in favor of the tC. I've also seen lexus concept pictures VERY similar to the tC, so I'd expect that in the next couple years as well.

to lazy to do a search right now but basically the word from Scion is that each model will have a about a 5 year run and then be discontinued. I assume this means that there also won't be any body changes or major updates during each vehicle's run.

personally can't wait to see what else they come up with.

I figure that would be true, that there would be no major exterior or interior updates. Toyota cars have a 4-5 year run before they make major changes. And since the Scino runs will only be 5 years, we wouldn't be expecting any major changes. They could always change some components though like the new '05 xB's have a new CD player I believe and two other things. I forgot what they were but they were small. Do a search.

RedFish:

Yeah, I dont' think they will get rid of the roof either. I like it, dont' get me wrong. I mean, the only other cars like it are Benzes, Porsches and the like. I would just prefer it as an option. I mean, from the inside, it just looks like 2 moonroofs, unlike the Porsche 911 Targa whose roof is "clearly" all glass. I'd like to see if I can replace it with a Carbon Fiber roof!

About a sporty car with a family: Your right, but this will be my car . Only I will drive it, and mostly just to work and back. I have an extended mini van with LCD, built in child seat, automatic sliding door, and seats 8. That is what my wife drives and what we take when we go anywhere with the kids. The only time the kids will be in the TC is if the van is in the shop. And it does have the LATCH system in the back.

Now for the Acura lasting very long. It's doubfull. It's a 1990 with over 160,000 miles! Now, I know that Acuras/Hondas last forever, but my dad didnt' take very good care of it. And besides, the air conditioner is broken ($1,500 to repair) and Vegas summers are HOT!

Oh, and with the minor quibles I have with the rare TC problems, I know they are uncommon, and if they happen, the warrantee will take care of them. My main reason for waiting for the 06 model is because of how long I have to wait till I get my tax return. My main reason for wanting it sooner is because...well...I WANT A TC!

sciontc_mich my salesman showed me the article in a mag he had, I'll call him up and try and find the mag/issue. It wasnt a big article, just a side bar with pic. But the lexus concept looked long with huge wheels, yet had the same roof and body was soo similar.

Mr Meaty, glad to see you put the thought into it, you sound like you got it pretty well planned. The earlier you file, the earlier your return, the sooner to tC-TIME! :D

yeah... from what i understand scion doesnt wanna be faced with the problem of having to redesign the cars the way chrysler may end up doing the the cruiser and vw with the beetle.
they build a very unique car and then stop making them... im sure that theyll build other cars D, E, F, G, ...... that will appear to be a remodel but it isnt the same. how would you remake the already quirky style the the xA and xB ?

An August 23, 2004, Scion Life poll titled"TC Problems / defects poll" had the following results:

Have you had ANY problems with your TC thus far?

None whatsoever 42% (15)
Small problems I could fix myself 20% (7)
Large problemsx that had to be fixed by dealer 31% (11)
Its a lemon 5% (2)
Total Votes 35

Ok so this is not a scientific poll but 57% of voters had problems.

My point is that these numbers suggest that TC problems are not "rare".

I highly doubt that the "large problems" exceeded simple roof popping or stereo door stiffness. But, nevertheless, if you dont like the car and think its garbage, feel free to move along and head elsewhere. Good luck with your domestic or more expensive alternative.

57% of 35 votes is still only 20 complaints. Not bad considering how many tCs have been sold and that it is a brand new model. They are just teething pains, and like they said, the dealer fixed them.

My budy bought a brand new 2003 Nissan SE-R Spec V and it has been recalled 3 TIMES for MAJOR malfunctions!

Anyway, about the major body changes. I also doubt there will be anything major, but they may have slight body changes, like the shape of the front grill. But wouldn't it be awsome if they did get rid of the all glass roof? Then, all of you who got the tC when it first came out would have a very unique car, the only ones with a glass roof! While the latecomers would only have a moon roof. Or how about a convertable! :D

If they did a convertible it would be a whole different car. tC is a hatchback. How do you make a convertible hatch?

waiting for a scion roadster. I like the look of the Smart roadsters they sell in Europe, although I'd probably have to fold my legs to fit in one.
