Default 210 miles with 1/4 tank left

im about 80% city / 20% highway. is this normal to have such low mileage when travelling in the city a majority of the time? ive only gone through about 2 tanks and the first fill up I got about 20 mpg with mostly city driving. there are a lot of topics on how to improve gas mileage and such and the things I've been doing is easing up on the gas like "theres an egg under the gas pedal" and when I do go on the highway, i go a pretty consistent 55-60. am i doing something wrong?

How bad is the city driving? If it is like Chicago at rush hour, that sounds normal to me.

I drive 95% city and I see around 20-21 mpg regularly, and I don't drive like a maniac either. If I go on the highway just once, maybe a 45 minute to hour round trip, I'll notice about 24-25 mpg on that tank as a result of that one excursion alone.

and u think 20-21 in the city pretty much all time is bad? when they give mpg ratings it's an average so... lil bit above n below is ok. supposed to be that way city sucks. my friend's maxima's computer shows 5MPG when he's in first and 10-15mpg in 2nd gear.... so.... there's city driving for you

Sounds normal to me, at least based on my own experience. In city and driving somewhat aggressively, I find it easy to get <20mpg.

By my estimate you are on your way to 24.5MPG for mainly in city driving. Assuming 210 miles driven with 1/4 of a tank to go.
EPA estimate is 23. I was roughing numbers so I would say you are pretty close to normal.
Just track it by filling the tank but do not overfill and drive it down to an eighth of a tank a couple of times. Tracking how much fuel it took to fill the tank. I know this sounds simple but people muff it up all the time. I average 22 in almost all city driving on my tC.
On the highway go 62-65 with the automatic. It is the "sweet" spot for the automatics.

OMG Get out of the city man and gets some easy highway or country miles on the engine to break it in before you kill it. Get it up over 42mph so that it gets into overdrive too! And layoff the brakes!

13 gallons? You've had to run with the light on for quite some time to get that low.

I've driven 50 miles past when the gas light came on and I've only filled up around 12.3 gallons.

Thats pretty brave to run that long on the light!! I get the light and get to a pump as soon as possible. I think one of the most embarrasing things in life is running out of gas. (I've done it, not in the tC though). I run probably 90% highway (commuting) and I get about 330 miles to when I get the light, unless I've been running late and then my average speed is in the high 90s and then my mileage goes to poop.
