Default 30,000 maintenance question

My 05 auto tC is at 27K (had since Feb of 05), and my question is what maintenance is needed at 30K, so far the only thing I have done is oil changes tire rotation, wiper fluid and general inspection. The only cost has been for the oil and rotation.

The Dealership says I need Auto transmission fluid and power steering fluid for a total of $350. A family member who is a mechanic says normally its 100K for transmission, and thinks they are just trying to sell unneeded service.

Has anyone had this done, is it needed or when do you need it, also what else might need to be done?

Any help from mechanics or people who have had their cars serviced would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

i went to the dealer to ask about the 20k inspection. i told them i change my own oil and rotate my tires. He says just keep your reciepts for everything you do maintenance wise. I think they wanted to charge around $75-95 for that? I wasn't going to pay for something i can do on my own. Just a thought?

Default Hey

Your tranny fluid will be fine. Dont pay for that, its useless at only 27k miles. And you dont need to change ur power steering fluid, just check it make sure its not to low or to full. I tell ya, these damn dealers sometimes crack me up with there nonsense. Just check your normal: Air filter, Oil/Oil filter, Tire Pressure, Rotate Tires, All your fluids. Trust me brotha.

Agreed to all of the above. I have to tell you...one time I was too lazy to change my own oil so I went to have someone do it. When they finished up the guy comesout and gives me a list of services they reccomend to have done...one of which is an automatic transmission gflush. I asked "are you sure about this"? He said yes definatley time for that. As I stared at him I couldn't help but laugh as turned and walked back to my civic 5 SPEED! LMAO.. Oh boy oh boy...shame shame shame.

I went to high shool with 3 ppl that work at the dealership where I bought my tC. All 3 told me that they have certain budgets that they have to meet in the shop everyday. You have to specifically tell them to ask you if they're replacing anything before they do any work because they'll replace anything and charge you up your ___ for it without letting you know first.

my power steering fluid was actually pretty dark and cloudy at about 42k miles, so i flushed it myself. as for the tranny flush, i drive a 5 speed, so i don't know about the service interval on the auto.

Hey, I went to the dealership to get my oil changed at about 30,000 miles and they gave me the list too. It said I needed transmission service (is that just the transmission fluid flush?) It also says BGFuel Induction Service, what is that? They said my power steering fluid was dark also. How can I drain the power steering fluid, any advice?

when i went in for my thiry check up, they said the same thing. The fuel service is and induction cleaning. They clean out your injectors and your intake system. It is expensive. I have 36 on mine now with the same tranny oil and power steering and i have no problems, i wouldnt be to worried about it.
