I agree, Sedona is well worth the extra hours. My uncle took me there when I stayed with him for a while in Scottsdale. It's really pretty there.

I did the I40/I20 route moving from CA to GA with my family when I was in high school, it was the worst 4-5 days of my life. Though, I guess it would be a lot of fun with friends and site seeing on the way. Have fun be safe and take ALOT of pictures, I mean you better have a day to day photo album, and we'll see you back in the good old south.

I made a trip similar to this (NJ to San Francisco and back) with a friend in a 5-speed wrangler with no AC and no Cruise control. That was probably the worst car to do it in.

I REEEALLY don't recommend doing the trip as fast as you're planning on. We took 3 weeks to get to SF, stayed there around 10 days, and then took 5 days or so to get back. Our trip back will be like your entire trip; a full speed blitz to get home. Doesn't sound like fun to me. You'll want to stay a night or 2 in N.O., Las Vegas, Memphis, San Francisco and a few others.

You'll also be very cramped with 4 people in the tC. Do you plan on wearing the same clothes every day? Woe to your seat fabric!

wow that looks like a lot of fun. I would love to do something like that with my friends. The farthest I've ever taken my tC was from FL to NY and back with 2 other people. I drove the whole way and took regular rest stops. The tC held up pretty well.

Be safe and have fun!

Sounds like a fun time.....but i agree with all the other suggestions like more time to enjoy and extra money.....My only other suggestion would be a laptop with an air card....then you could keep us informed and you have your navi right there!!! Definitely saves you time when looking for stuff or if you get lost!!!

We are all looking forward to the trip. It should be a lot of fun. I have done a lot trips around GA/FL/SC/TN/AL in the tC and enjoyed it. The tC is one of the few coupes that you can have people in the back seat for trips. Of course we will all be packing extra light. Probably enough to make it to Cali and try to wash 'em for the way back.

We would love to have more time and money for this trip, but we are all college students. This is our spring break. After class this Friday we are going to see 300 at the Mall of Georgia IMAX. We will leave for California from there and hopefully be back in time for class the following Monday.

We will probably sleep in the car while on the road most of the time. With the exceptions being in Las Vegas, where we are spending two nights at one of the Casinos with one of our girlfriends; San Fransisco, where we may crash on my cousin's floor for a couple nights; And we may camp out some, like near area 51 in New Mexico and in Wyoming.

I got a digital camera for this trip and we will probably take a video camera and a laptop too. So expect updates from the road.

We will have to look going into Sedona. What should we do there?

Pam (The navigation system/ my car in general/ "map" backwards) will defiantly be a help so we can change our route on the fly if we want to.

There are Pink Jeep and ATV tours, well worth it since it goes out to areas which supposed to be off-limits to civilians. Other than that, it's basically like the Grand Canyon, as far as events .

Hahaha, that's awesome. I'm also at UGA and am planning to do a road trip starting with seeing 300 friday at the imax, but your trip looks like it's gonna put mine to shame. I would offer 2 suggestions as far as your route. First off, I'd reccomend going through Houston and San Antonio instead of Dallas on your way through Texas. I visited all over Texas last summer for a week and those were my two favorite cities by far, Plus it'll mean more interstate driving, which is the best on huge trips. Second, I'd consider taking the coastal highway 1 up California, it's beautiful, and a fun drive.

And make sure and eat at places like whataburger and stuff we don't have around here!

Oh! And if you're able to be at austin at around 8pm, check out the congress ave. bat bridge, one of the coolest things i've ever seen.

What??? You're not going through Arkansas??? The natural state??? Home of former president Bill Clinton??? Good choice...

I would definitely recommend keeping water in the car at all times, extra money, and blankets because it will get colder than you think out there in the desert at night when camping.

But if you do take I-40 through Arkansas in order to get back home faster, I'm in Conway and it's a pretty good place to stop for food and a break.

Stay safe, don't kill your friends, and enjoy yourselves.

(300 is going to be SOOOO awesome!!!)

Update

We are in Roswell, New Mexico. This is our first night in a hotel. We have slept in the tC the past two nights. It is very close quarters.

The car has held up very well. We have a small air leak in the back right tire. Only about 5 psi a day, so we have just been pumping more air into it.

Wish I would have seen this earlier...You're in my hometown today. Bummer...Would have helped you out with that tire. I'm off to Las Cruces in a few hours. Too bad you guys went north.
