if you drive your tC hard, get the TRD clutch assembly. believe me it makes a huge difference shifts are sharper and it makes the transmission feel shorter

omg my car has 1500 miles on it and every time i turn the key it makes a strange noise and the car vibrates just alittle. also when i'm drivng the mirrors all vibrate is that normal. and when i'm dirving it doen't let me go in to seventh gear please help.

oh wait never mind thats the motor starting and the mirrors are moveing because my radio's so damn loud. and every already has a six gear its called reverse. quit your _____in'. i don't konw about you guys but i don't do enough driving at 85++ mph to need a sixth foward gear. if you think you have to shift so soon drive a saturn where redline in first gear is close to 18mph and from second to third drops you out of the power band no mater how you drive it. i scared myself the other day driving my wifes xterra i turned the key and vroom i heard the engine and its loud compared to the tc, at first it thought i broke it, but then it hit me damn the tc is quiet. i cant wait to dynamte the girl.

Mine is fine after 1000 miles. I don't think it is a problem, just a quirk. You should hear a last gen z24 cavy. Thoes tranys sound like they are going to rattle apart in 1st and reverse. I haven't read the entire thread, but I agree that you should not have to go in for servise with a car that new.

Me, too! My tC is now at 22,500 miles (long commute...) with no transmissions problems at all. Nothing major at all. Yes, really!

The people saying the tC is a POS never drove a Yugo, did they? ROFLMAO!!!

For the first couple hundred miles, I had a rough and sort of difficult engagement of third gear, but it seems to have ironed itself out and I've had no more trouble with the transmission. I also heard the sunroof pop twice and that's it. I'm really quite happy with my tC 1500 mi now and nothing really distressing. You folks that have all the horrible problems should be driving a loaner while the dealer fixes your car free of charge. It's not a 1972 Ford LTD that you bought from Larrys used cars, it's a brand new rig with a warranty. You're crazy for just living with problems like that and doing nothing but make them worse.

4k miles, no problems whatsoever. No rattles, shifts smoothly, and goes when I want it to go.

Approaching 3,000 miles with a 5-speed. No problems. Have noticed the "whirring" while at highway cruise, but it doesn't appear to be troublesome at this point. No moonroof or rear hatch rattles either, but have noticed squeaking from the glovebox.

I have 1300 miles on my 5sp TC. No transmission problems. I do have lots of rattles - sunroof rattle, hatchback rattle, dash rattle.
