Default Accident, version 2 UPDATED

This happened on 8-9-09. Details on what happened are in the post. I spent a total of 3 hours on this, and I'm happy with the results. The rest of the car needs to be cleaned and a couple things still need to be installed.

Materials-
6" Walmart Buffer (don't buy this, it's a POS)
Mothers Wax
Meguires Scratch X
Microfiber Rag
Mothers Instant Detailer

Through many combinations of wax, I found that using Mothers MIXED in with Scratch X works beautifully. Took out the area I was working on faster than anything.

So letme get this straight, your brother was driving down the road and a lady in a car pulled out her driveway and hit you........and from reading all this you make it sound like your brother is at fault cause he could not swerve out of the way.....um anyone entering traffic is at fault if they hit a person in traffic......she is at fault and should be paying. at her cost........or am I confused.

if we push the issue then shes at fault. but since we're not going through insurance, we're not going to. if we go through insurance its a 1k deductible, and our rates would completely explode since my bro isnt marked as the primary driver of the tc.

You don't pay a deductible if she is at fault and you go through her insurance. If she doesn't have insurance, you don't pay your deductible - or if you do, it is reimbursed. Your insurance company doesn't even need to be involved if she is insured. Your rates will not go up because of someone else's carelessness.*

I was an adjuster for two loooooong years and if there was one lesson I learned, it was never take your eyes off the car in front of you while merging into traffic. But the next lesson is never EVER handle repairs outside insurance. It goes south in a heartbeat.
So, unless your brother has something to hide, you are making a mistake.

I doubt I'm going to change your mind about this, but I'm leaving this as a warning to others. Just go through insurance.

Sorry for the threadjack.

* unless you are constantly being hit by people.

x2, no need to take money out of your own pocket if there's no need. plus, i thought it was against the law not to report it to insurance if it's over a certain amount. i know in Cali you're suppose to report any damage over $500 to the 5.0

i wouldn't expect you to, but your bro should have b/c he took his written driving test.it's not a hit on you for your age, just saying that i don't expect you to know those things.
