Am I being unreasonable
I put my order in for a FM tc on Saturday and was told it might take a month or so for one to come in. I got a call today from the salesman who said that they got a auto FM tc in, and they are looking to swap it with another dealer and just to let me know, there might be around 100 miles on it when I get it.
I told him I would prefer to be the first one to drive the car and since its my first new car ever, it was just a little something I would prefer to see the mileage something ridiculously low (as expected)...like less than 5 miles on it.
So, am I unreasonable for asking that? If I am, don't hesitate to tell me so.

Depends on how fast you want it... I had to have mine driven up from another dealer for me (swapped) and rather had it that day, rather than waiting a month.
It's no big deal for me, as it saved me wait time.... if wait time is no big deal, say you want it from the trailer and they should make it so.

Of course not, its a brand new car, you are entitled to have as few miles as possible on it
And of course, the first 1000 miles are the most important, so even more of a reason to want a car with under 5 miles on it.
Others will say its a Toyota engine, it can handle anything. But common sense people... the better care you take of the engine, the better it will take care of you.
I personally wouldnt accept the car with 100 miles on it.

I don't think you're being unreasonable cuz you're the one buying the car. If you don't want to wait then don't. if you can wait then wait. With me when I got my Tacoma in 2004, they didn't have the one I wanted and but they found a dealership 150 miles away that carried it. I agreed to wait only a day to have it driven to my city. I guess with me im not that overly sensitive with the whole "I want to be the first to drive it" (no offense or anything) cuz I didn't want to order it and wait longer. As long as it gets there safely it's fine. It's a toyota and it's still brand new no matter what. Whatever floats your boat.
If you're paying full price for it, it's your call. You're the customer. There are many horror stories about the abuse people put on cars in test drives that I've read on here that have led me to never want a demo vehicle.
to be honest, I am 30 years old and this is the first time EVER buying a brand new car. My MAIN concern is pretty much that the car should be PRISTINE when I buy it. The mileage thing isn't THAt big of a deal. I just hope that they baby the car if they do drive it 100 miles and detail like crazy so it literally looks like it is right off the truck.
If that is the case, I guess I don't mind.

I might be able to deal with it being driven from Dealer A to Dealer B, but in NO WAY will I accept one that is test driven.
get the one YOU ordered which was with no miles!!!! sh*t if you want drive it off the 18 wheeler? Dont settle for nothing less!
i loved my delaer (Red McCombs Scion). Mine only had 10 miles on it cause my salesman washed it and filled it up with gas down the street! So i let that slide!

It's not that big of a deal to have it driven a little, IMO. Having the car shuttled is different than it being a demo car. Trailering it is considerably more expensive. When I worked at a dealership, other than me going on dealer trades, we had several old guys that did these runs and they were probably more careful than the guy operating the flatbed...
It can actually be a benefit sometimes as well. I've reported problems on cars that i had driven and we were able to fix the issue under warranty, saving the customer a trip or 2 to the service dept.
It also depends on your patience. The way i calculate, time=money. it may be worth the time to wait or maybe you can't. Another option is to offer to go with them on the dealer trade
Nobody wants a test-driven car. Isn't that like having pre-marital relations but insisting you marry a virgin. ...

I inspected the car very carefully when I took delivery, pointed out any issues (the dent was the only one). The dealer even called me back the next day, asked me to go over the entire car again in daylight and let them know ASAP if they needed to add any issues with the car to the paperwork. Everything was documented.
Car has been fine. When I brought it back for the state inspection after registering the car the dealer provided me a rental car, kept the car overnight and had the paintless dent removal guy take care of the door ding. Thankfully the car was not scratched. No way I would have taken it if the Flint Mica had to be painted.
Anyway, I'm happy. I got my car in about 5 days. Haven't had any issues with it.
But, if you are concerned about mileage see if you can go pick the car up yourself, or tell them you'd prefer to wait and get one off the truck.
FWIW, the warranty starts when you take delivery of the car, so my car is warrantied for 66144 miles or 6 years from day of delivery.

definitely wait dawg...and take a picture with your odometer at ....1...
The one sitting at the dealership 100 miles away has been test drivin. Scions do not sit on the lot they are demoed. No ifs ands or buts about it, and it probably has about 20-30 mi on it right now, if not more.
The only way to get one with "no" miles on it and not order it is to head to the port of entry where your scions come in, camp out and wait for car carriers to leave. When you see the color you want, follow that truck, and pray that it isn't sold already.
If you can't wait, then there you are. If you can wait, then do so, both you and the salesman will be much happier that way. You've waited this long, what's another week or 2?

there's nothing wrong with 100 miles on your odometer...i just found that it was very satisfying to see mine with only one number showing. i've never had that before...so i thought it was pretty sweet.
