I stumbled across this link below while searching for wheels & tires on the net and thought this was interesting. Apparently, there are some arrogant cocky people across the nation that obviously have their own shortcomings like using improper grammar and spelling. One thing that I can't stand is listening to conceited people trash talking. I think people with this attitude hide behind their possessions just to cover up whatever shortcomings they have. The reality is that a stock tC isn't as fast as other cars in a different class and, as an owner, I can accept that for economical and financial reasons. If I didn't care about gas mileage or reliability, I definitely would of got'n a Pontiac GTO instead. But seriously, with the many different turbo setups and plenty other engine upgrades, people like that don't consider the potentials and respect for other cars. It may seem that I'm upset, but I'm not. Just supporting all Scions in general.

One thing they did talked about is tC owners challanging other cars of a different class. How many of you here often do this with your naturally aspirated engine w/ bolt-on upgrades? I hope not and hope they were exaggerating it.

Agreed. The styling of the tC is what attracted me most.

 

umm, i dont see too many hating on the tc. I see a bunch of them hating on the hondas. But let them be. I know we hate some cars out there.

 

this debate goes back to Ford Vs. Chevy nothing new except the cars have changed..........I bought my tC because it had the best amount of aftermarket and it just plain gave me the most car for the money........

 

I see more Honda than anything, some on tC. But for real, we have an economical cruiser, we shouldn't be racing the car EVEN with i/h/e cuz all the cars I see compared the tC to those with some kind of FI right out the factory or are set up(on their way to) be race ready. I've raced my friends for kicks and that's where it stays(EK hatch w/ a GSR swap and 07 Civic Si, I didn't have a chance). Let us have that money difference of what they compare our car to for boost, it'll be game over; and change the gear ratio some so we don't have the top speed about 130MPH . In the end I'll feel better knowing I spent considerably much less to blow the doors off those that bash the tC when on the road. I.E. Civic Si base price is $21,600, my Spec tC $16,900 = I have $4700 to go turbo and dare you to say something when you lose. Replace Civic Si and money amount with any car and base price and it'll be the same story. The thing that's funny is what did they accomplish racing the tC(the 4G eclipse folks, especially GT owners)?

 

the new eclipses are so ugly no matter what they do to it. what i thought was funny is that the moderator of that forum had a pic of a nissan 300zx as part of his signature. i rather have a good lookin car (the tC) than a faster, butt ugly car (the eclipse)

 

I know why they are bashing everything else, they are DSM owners. They hate on tC's and Honda's because they run everyday without issues.

why does this bother everyone?
Its a natural thing for people that own one thing to think everything else sucks. It happens on our boards just as much as their boards. People on here talk poop about BMWs, hanods, Mitsubishis and so on. ITS THE WAY IT IS.

And yes tCs constantly post on here about street racing stories where they were obviously out of their league. So yes SOME tC owners are as stupid as other forums say we are. AND VICE-VERCA.

 

isnt it sort of.. general knowledge that the tC is just a nice looking economy car with some cool features and a little pep? No one at scion ever claimed it to be a dragster...

 

They don't hate the cars, they hate the few ricer street racer's that they they associate with them on a regular basis ... they're just too ignorant and self-righteous to not let that notion transcend the entire platform.

 

nick is right these things happens on other forums as well as in here.. people bash and flame everywhere. People just think different ways and just dont go together all the time

 

all i can say is..

sure you might have won that race

.. but.. do you have social seating or 2 sunroofs? i think not.

 

Hence why some people hate the tC. It's the DRIVER and not necessarily the car.

 

but unfortunatly it transforms to the car as well. People associate a car with a persons driving habits. Think about all the Hondas out there with bumpers hanging off and the drivers weaving in and out of traffic. does that mean all Hondas suck.....DEFFINETLY NOT. A nicely done hooked up Honda will ruin a tC or many other cars, but people look at hondas and think rice possibilities.

its all about the drivers, and with tC owners trying to Race 335i's and cars way out of their league (whether the tC is able to win or not, think boosted) it makes us look dumb.

wow .. awfl cars ... that so far have proven to be super reliable and sell extremly well..

 

on my way back from picking up a new t3 inlet gasket (old one was blown out leaking exhaust bad) i came across a bright yellow porsche cayman s. i have no exhaust on my car, so its really loud even at low rpm's. i geuss the loud exhaust must have made this guy think that i was trying him. he started to take off, so i got on it and blew past him. i slowed down and looked over at him, and he gave a polite nod and wave, and i returned it. i really dont think he thought i looked that dumb. i geuss it all depends on the person. some people have alot of respect, and can tell when someone has put alot of hard work and money into there car. others just get jealous and hate. i know if i got smoked by a vw beetle, my first thought would be, OMG what has he got in that monster.

 

But to me, this proves everything. tC owners are out to race and make the streets dangerous. To me, if you want to give a us a good image, rev on him and just coast on through at a SAFE pace. No need to street race and make us look like the imature street racers that have given imports the bad reputation they have.
I have cars try and race constantly. I smile tap the gas to make it look like I am interested, then just continue at cruising speed as they speed away into racer heaven.
