Default any dealers know port install price for springs, shocks...

...and both together? my dealer gave me just a ball park of ~$800 for springs & shocks...

just trying to find out prices for each and if other dealers concur with that above price for port install?

It's that $800 for installation or $800 installed?

But with the TRD springs, you don't need new shocks, do you?

Nope, you don't. And if you DIY it will cost you a whopping $150 including the price of springs themselves ;) ...

My ppo reference guide doesnt show springs or shocks. I believe since they are TRD they are dealer installed only.

ah i c... but since i could get the TRD exhaust port installed, i thought that you could get the springs installed as well.

yea from here everyone says that you don't need new shocks for a 1.2" drop... i did the same on my IS300 with the LTuned springs that dropped only an inch... however, i was thinking if maybe i should just get the whole get up this time around...

but i'll probably just get the springs for now... maybe the sway bar as well.

thanks for the input guys!

i just got a quote for dealer install for the springs plus install... 199 for springs plus about two hours install @ $80/hr = 160... all together that makes around 360... not too bad considering i got my LTuned srpings installed for 200 at a tire shop! looks like i'll be going through the dealer.

Dont you need to also get an alignment after the spring install? Is that included in the price the dealer quoted you?

Does anyone have a link to a good site showing a spring install guide. I've never done much work on my car myself, but people say this is an easy process. If I can save a hundred bucks for 2 hours work, I'd say it's worth it.

If you want a copy of the install directions I have the install guide for the factory springs in PDF format I can email out . It will be the same for installing the TRD or any other brand .

One note if you have never done a spring install be careful it should only be done if you have experience working with them , removing and installing compressed springs can be dangerous if not done right . Spring compressors can be rented at most local auto parts but make sure you know what you are doing with them there is a lot of force in a compressed spring and i have seen them do a lot of damage to a hand when one comes apart wrong. :D

What happens to your warranty of your shocks if you install the TRD springs yourself though?

Well, the warranty simply gets voided. I bought the extended warranty too, so hopefully if i went the DIY route I wouldn't void the extended warranty as well. Any input on this?

If you install it yourself I believe both your standard and extended warranties would be voided for the suspension. Well, not for everything, but if you struts wore out or you alignment went bad or your wheels came off, none of those things would be covered. Basically, if the dealer can blame it on your self-install of the shocks, you're screwed.

If you have the dealer do it, both warranties stay intact.

althgouh i don't see a problem with the stock shocks (they seem pretty firm ;) ) i'm wondering if installing just the springs will void the warranty at all... my dealer was a bit uncertain about installing the springs without the TRD shocks so that thought came into my head...

TRD springs can be used with the stock shocks and will not affect your warranty . If you install them yourself it will not affect your warranty if done correctly . If you damage or break something during the install that is not going to be covered under warranty . Same thing if a dealer breaks something during the install only they have to pay to fix it not you . If you install them yourself then only the part is covered for 12 months unlimited mileage . If the dealer installs them then labor and any other item that may fail due to the TRD item is covered as well if warranty replacement is needed. TRD offers a limited lifetime warranty on dealer installed shocks and struts but only if dealer installed. :D

How long is everything covered for if the dealer installs it?

Dealer installed covered under new car 3yr 36000mi warranty or 12months unlimited what ever is greater parts and labor ( springs are covered under this)

Over the counter, customer installed 12 months unlimited milage "no labor coverage" just the part

TRD offers a limited lifetime warranty feature on dealer-installed shocks and struts that becomes effective from the date the Toyota Comprehensive Warranty expires and extends for as long as the original purchasing customer owns the vehicle. The limited lifetime extension covers parts replacement only (no labor)

This applies to all TRD parts that have a part # starting with 00602- or what they call a level 1 part "TRD also makes some specialty items that are strictly for race use and are not covered under warranty " :D
