Anyone use Car Ramps to change oil?
Just wondering if anyone uses Car Ramps to change their oil. My dad owns a pair of old metal ones, but they are too tall for my standard scion. The front bumper will hit the ramps before the tire can drive up.
Does anyone know of any type of ramp with enough clearance? I don't mind having to jack up the front end a bit to reach the pan and filter, but i would rather have it up on ramps for security purposes.

Yeah, I use ramps. It's the plastic ones from Walmart that costed like 30 dollars, and it's worked well over the years and it's rated for up to 7500lbs, no falling on people. Peanut's recommendation is a very good trick for cars that are lowered, and should work well for you.
I am lowered and can do it without jacking it up or putting it on ramps. My oil bucket thing just fits under there. Its a lil tight but it can be done very quickly. I mean even two pieces of wood would make it much easier. So If you not lowered just reach up under there man.

a great way to do changes is to get 2 8' 2x8"wide boards and cut one in half and the other into 2" sections and screw them together...... makes a good 4" lift off the ground and easy to drive on and off......cost about $20....even on lowered car you can get at the pan and filter.
I bought a few years ago for my mom's car something called Ramp Extensions for the metal ramps. They are hard plastic the same width as the ramps about 2 feet long with metal pins that fit into the holes on the metal ramps to make sure they don't slip out when in use.
All it does is lower the angle by extending the ramp approach angle. Plus it makes it easier to get up on the rams. I would think they still sell them, but the store I bought them at went out of business years ago.
I haven't changed the oil on my tC because I prepaid all of my maintenance for 5 years, so I take mine to the dealer.
Edit: here they are: http://www.tracyvette.com/autoramps.html

I just use a jack and jackstands, like yellow said it's the safest. If your lowered and don't have a low profile jack to get under just run the car up on a couple 2x4's to get the jack under there.
if your super skinny just slide under and do it!
haha
i usually just jack up the front with a regular jack and sometimes put a jackstand (i know, if only sometimes thats dangerous) but i remove the filter and oil fast and put it down.
