Default Auto Dimming Mirror Question

I received something in the mail from my dealership with some pictures of accessories on it. It shows the auto dimming mirror with a digital compass readout. But when I go to the scion site, it doesnt mention anything about a compass. I was thinking about getting this, but the price tag is pretty high.

maybe they are changing the design of it for 06. but yeah, the mirror from the dealer is way too much. you can get it for $100 less or so if you buy it from dealers on the internet, or even off of ebay.

it's listed as $300 something on the scion website. go to ebay today and type it in and watch 2 results pop up. there's one for $195 and another for $194.50. there are some others for $228, but still the other two DO exist.

The auto dimming mirror is worth it, the homelink garage opener with map light is an awesome feature. You could buy it online for $200 or so but the installation is difficult thats the reason why I purchased it with the car.

my real question was does it actually come with a digital compass? It doesnt mention it on the scion's site. But a picture of it shows a digital readout on the top right corner.

is 195,194.50, or 228 = to 100 or less? NO!

no the auto dimming mirror for the tc doesnt come with a digital compass, only homelink garage opener and map light, the picture of what your dealership sent u was probably the auto dimming mirror for the xa and/or xb which does include a digital compass but that one doesnt have the homelink garage opener.

This is the one for the tC.

why not just get a broadway mirror? it's got anti-glare coating so i have no problem driving around at night. (and you can see better during the day as well, not to mention "increased visibility"

Because the Broadway won't give you the homelink buttons, which I would speculate is the main reason people like the auto-dimming mirror anyway.

Besides, in a car like the tC with some pretty wide blind spots, I'm not sure a Broadway mirror would help that anyway.

I'm not sure how normal it is, but when I ordered my car with it, they sold me the mirror and credited me for the stock one (something like $50 IIRC) so really it wasn't that expensive, and I didn't have to install it myself either.

thank you Nauticaz24, that's exactly what i meant. you can find it for $100 less than what the dealer will charge you. i didn't say you could find it for less than $100. someone is too quick to disagree and start crap without reading the content of a sentence correctly.

Since we are talking about the auto dimming mirror, I don't know if this is an installation problem, but when I lock the driver side door, the mirror doesn't have power! I think this is weird. Anyone else notice this or willing to try locking their driver's door next time they are in their car to see and let me know? It's weird IMO.

My last vehicle (a loaded 2000 Silverado) had an auto-dimming mirror with compas and outside temp. Yeah, it was pretty cool, but not something I would ever pay $300 to have again.

That is definitely a problem. Have your dealer check it out.

I got my mirror for $203 shipped off eBay. The install is extremely easy- took only about 30 minutes.

Mine does not have that problem- check the install to make sure everything is hooked up correctly, or if it was dealer installed, take it back. That is NOT normal!
