Default Bad luck tC....

Alright, Let me just start off by saying this tC has been bad luck since the day it was bought "April 1, 2008" haha I know april fools right. Well anyway we bought the car and had to wait to take delivery because the spoiler for the tC was on back order. Okay no big deal, go in for the first free oil change, come home to find that the car had all 4 wheels gouged up from the socket. Called toyota and had them look at the wheels, they had someone "repaint" the wheels. Go up inspect the car, the color isn't even close to matching. Alright they keep the car and repaint again. Still doesn't match but we say screw it and go on our way. So goes in for the next oil change and come back to find the rocker molding popped out and oil all over the carpet and door sill. Not too happy about that. Next it goes in for warranty repair to replace a A post pillar that the fabric was lifting on. Come out to find the windshield cracked where they were working, but "the car came in with the crack in the windshield" So we replace it under insurance. Now the car went in last night for a tire mount and balance and rotation, I'll let the pics speak for themselves as lets just say I am gonna fight for new wheels now.

I have no issue with the sales department at newark toyota/scionworld, they have been nothing but excelent throughout the buying experience, Dave and Tim were great to work with buying the car. I just cannot say the same for the service department.

You can see the paint lifting from whatever mobile wheel repair shop they used, as well as the marks and gouges in the wheels from mounting the tires. I am sick to my stomach seeing this.

screw "repainting the rims". 1st they are powdercoated, so to do it properly they would have to strip and repowder them. 2nd i would just demand a new set, not "repainted" ones.

yeah most places will treat your wheels like they are some rusted steelies even if you tell them to be really careful because rims are powdercoated and lungnuts are alluminum and really expensive. Hell they even ask you for the lugnut key after they already tried to remove it with regular socket and i always leave it in the cupholder. My wheels and lugnuts are all scratched up and chipped after only 2 times at ntb. So now i rotate and remove wheels myself and i put my stockies back on for alignments and any other car related services. as for toyota service dept i will never ever take my cars there even for warranty and recalls. No way. Good luck to you dealing with toyota corp. Im still waiting for refund for my parts that their techs have lost.

Yup I just got my new tires put on at Firestone and they put at several chips in a couple of the wheels. I thought they were good because I went to them before to get a tire transferred to a new rim and they didnt put one mark on it. This time they must have had someone different, and they had a ton of the grease stuff on them so it was hard to see the scratch when i first picked the car up.

I highly doubt they'll replace those wheels for you. (Not saying that's the right thing to do, but I don't think they'll side with you) Considering the tire machines and those low profile tires you lucked out with that small of damage. I work at a Ford dealer and my friend and I spent over 2 hours mounting my winter tires. We had to use a crow bar and go very slow to make sure we didn't damage the rims or tear the side wall.

Considering lube techs make $8-$10 / hour and are under pressure from the dealership to get people in and out, they normally don't take their time with the work.

Edit: Also, double check to make sure they mounted your tires correctly . A lot of times the techs don't understand that most tires are directional so they put them on backwards.

These aren't directional tires, and I have mounted 40 series 18's without ever harming a wheel. This is complete bull and if thats how they take care of customers I just won't buy another toyota from them.

Yeah I'm not saying its right, but thats how it goes a lot of times. I've heard our service manager yell at the lube techs to hurry up and cut corners. They don't want to spend the time to make sure these things are done right and no damage is caused. Most customers who go to the dealership don't even notice or care. I took my parents car in for an oil change and rotate and the guy didn't use a torque stick when he tightened the lugs. I asked him about it when he brought the car up and he appologized and torqued the lugs for me.

^^ since these places want to cut corners, how about we as consumers do NOT give them our money? We'll just CUT them out, since they don't seem to care, neither do we that they stay in business.

talk with your money and find a better shop!
