...in his defence, you said you were going 60-80mph.

Glad you're ok and sorry for your loss. I hate to see such a sweet car get creamed like that. ...I've lost a few myself, so I know what you mean about waiting a bit before jumping back in the saddle.

You said 60-80 in your first post, but whatever, thats not so fast.

Even at that speed, the tC appears to be a tank! No visible crumpling behind the front wheels, that is awesome. Glad you're ok, could have been way worse.

Man i think you will regret getting the spec. Its more than just the sunroof and wheels. No keyless entry, no ipod hookup, center consol only has one compartment, only auto down for driver and no up or down for passenger window, no 12 volt accessory in compartment.

I'm sure you know most of that, I was thinking about getting the spec version but I don't think they knocked enough of the price.

There's actually a big difference. Going 80mph you could take up to twice the distance it would take 60, to stop. Not to mention you will impact at a much greater force.

There's a lot more to physics than people think. Just because you're going 20% faster, it doesn't mean you'll only need 20% additional distance to stop.

I was messing around many years ago and measured distance to stop with my DSM. I measured the difference from going 30mph and 60mph to a dead stop. I found out that I needed 3.5 times the distance of 30mph to stop even though it seems like I was only going twice of that speed.

it has keyless entry.. just not an immoblizer, i have checked.

i dont have an iPOD or a mp3 player.. so i have no need for it, i never used it on my old tC.

i have a regular center console cover that will go right in.. so its just like normal

i dont really care for the auto features.. as long as i get it on my side, thats all that matters haha.

12accesory outlet.. i only need one..

and when i said i was going 60-80.. i was going 60, but due to me spinning out and such, i "may" have gained more speed.. so the officer stated

i don't think its possible for you to "gain" more speed simply because you were spinning. You need friction to accelerate, which is what's needed to go faster. But since you were twirling around like a top (very little friction between the tires and the road), it's impossible for you go accelerate, unless it happened going down a very very steep hill.

I didn't say there wasn't a difference. 80 mph will hurt for sure, but so will 60 mph. It still isn't that fast.

I could be wrong, but I don't think velocity has anything directly to do with force of impact. If F=ma, then it should be the force of acceleration, or in this case deceleration (acceleration applied in the opposite direction of travel). The time it takes to apply this acceleration also comes into play. Smooth stop or sudden crash both require the same amount of force.

Oh yeah, that officer was full of it. You might gain speed for a specific point on your car, such as the ends of the car in a spin, but the center mass will not gain speed. Unless you got hit really hard...
