Default Break-in Period....

This is my first 'brand new' car. I just upgraded from a '99 VW Bora which I got with about 1600 miles (it was a dealer demo car for a few months), so I didn't have to worry so much about breaking that in.

Anyhow - when I get home to the states on the 22nd, I'll be arriving to my already-delivered tC, and I wanted to get some advice about the break in period. It was something I thought was much more important for automatic transmissions, but from my reading it seems i may be wrong...

Anyhow - I've got a 5spd manual... how should i be driving this initially, and how long do i need to worry about it?

Thanks

There are probably a million threads on this and im no expert at manuals but i tihnk its the same basic idea..

In a nutshell:

Don't do any heavy breaking for the first 200 miles

Don't stay at constant speeds for prolonged intervals

And don't over rev...

I dont remember the specific RPM to try to stay under, but i try to stay below 65 in my automatic...

But i think as long as you drive a bit more reserved for the first 1000 miles you'll be fine...

Especially in NYC, I almost never have the chance to drive insane....

It's always bumper to bumper...
