Default brought my car to the DYNO :)

hey everyone, i brought my car to DYNO SPOT RACING in san jose yesterday 12/4/04... the car had a WEAPON R secret weapon intake, for all those who are skeptics it works! and a WEAPON R prototype header...
we did 4 runs...

baseline- 141.1hp/151.1 lbs torque
intake- 147.6hp/154.6 lbs torque
intake/header- 159.7hp/ 160.7

and a fourth run when the car cooled a bit... took a heavy beating on the dyno
final run- 160hp/ 160.6 torque

the car's redline appears out of nowhere with the header on... it also pulls hard all the way up to redline, and it sounds MEAN as a mother!

the intake gained 6.5hp and 3.5lbs torque...
the race header gained 12.4hp and 6.1 lbs torque...

and finally here is the pic of the chart...

Those before intake gains were crap. That dyno either was calibrated right or something???

Those are some logical gains. Nice ones at that. I wish you would have made some vids.
What does the exhaust sound like with the header installed?? I know you have a stock exhaust but any difference in tone?? Main thing is I dont want extra sound because its for my moms car. hehe

WOW, I just clicked on the dyno runs. Those curves are so freakin smooth!!!!!!!
Im making my dad get this header!!!!

What do you think the ignition bridge did?? Thats probably what cleaned the curves up.

what do you mean those before intake gains were crap? that was a baseline with nothing on the car for the 141 hp... that makes alot of sense to me? 160hp crank plus drivetrain loss

i did make some vids... but my camcorder is old... dont know how to do it... if i figure it out ill post it

and the exhaust sounds great, the closest car i can compare it to is the tone of the g35 infinity... but most of the rumble comes from the intake. the car is pretty quiet untill you apply about 50% of the throttle then it starts to get loud

and yes the power curves are VERY smooth and linear... power delivery is smooth almost all the way to redline

The first time the WR intake was dynoed. 12 some odd WHP with a short ram....... :?
However the car that tested the first intake had a very low base run. I just think there was something wrong with the dyno.

I didnt say anything about your runs, I think there great.

Also, what did Toyota say about your warranty?? I know its been "blackflagged" but ask them what part of your warranty has been screwed. I just want to know before oredering this header.

oh hehe... yea the first time they dyno'd it was an independant test i believe... either the dyno was messed up or the car just had a lemon engine

but thanks for the props

the 12hp gain from the weapon r... that made a red flag go up in my mind too... so i tested it on my car

and about the warranty. i dont know haha i didnt say anything to toyota and they havent seen my car? but im 100% sure the warranty will be voided

From what happend to my friends car (Mazdaspeed Protege) with the cats deleted the only warranty voided is emissions. So no free o2 sensors as well as exhaust problems (leaks, broken hangers, flanges.......it goes on)

Is there a flexpipe near the header somewhere. I know that one will be needed with these cars. Its FWD and makes great torque, those combos are prone to breaking exhaust parts. Or does the header use the stock flexbolts??

I find it funny that this was the same intake Weapon Ray was raving about giving like 13hp. And how he didnt care if no one believed him because the dyno said it all. THis seems a bit more accurate.

i thought i read somewhere the weapon r intake was a cold air intake just like the aem and k&n? but then again you had your hood up while doing the dyno? so im sure that the intake was sucking in cold air... but that is a mean header!!! is that a 4-1 header? or a 4 -2-1?

Any other exhaust mods at the time of dyno? Or just the intake bolted up to the stock muffler/midpipe/little s-pipe or whatever that little thing is between the header and second cat...

I believe he has the stock exhaust. Only mods were intake, ignition bridge, and header.

The Weapon-R header comes with the S-pipe also, and the header is 4-2-1

Heres the header off the car.

Mx6GT91 is correct... comes with the s-pipe... 4-2-1 header... stock exhaust system
