Default Bubbling TC

Anyone else have their interior bubble up on them? I'm wondering if its just the hot weather here melting the glue that holds the fabiric to the plastic. My front right a-pillar has been peeling/bubbling up for a few weeks now, and now I sat in my back seat today only to find 2 bubbles in the b-pillar. I need to sit in the back of my car more often as I also found a few more loose things, and 2 nice scratches in my tint from the dealer. Fun stuff.

Going to start taking photos and documenting all the problems in case something happens. This is just a few more things to add to the list of broken stuff. Still waiting on parts from 6 weeks ago to fix the intial problems. Scion is suppost to call me on Monday to see how they can fix the issues. I hope it goes well.

Nick, generally I'm tired of reading your rants, but honestly, looking at your situation, I'd do the same thing. I'm sorry to hear about your car, because it really seems to have way more problems than it should. Now, as far as the bubbling goes, the fact you live in 100+ degree weather is no doubt the problem, but nonetheless they shouldn't bubble.

Are your windows tinted? I have no bubbling issues, and it does get pretty damn hot here (outside temp read 110 when i turned on the car one day, although it did go back down to 95 or so after some driving, hot as hell nonetheless). A nice tint/film strip would definately cut down the heat. I have 20% on my front two windows, and 15% at the rear quarter panels/rear hatch.

But nonetheless, scion should fix that problem and the others you are having, or else they should get you a new tC all together. They must have built your car the day after a big party, or something.

I wish you the best.

20% tint all around since the 3rd day I've had the car.

The other day the temp sensor in the car was reading 124. Nice and toasty. Got down to 105 a few minutes later.

Jesus, that's hella hot. But again, even though your in the hottest place in America, bubbling should still not occur. Seems like they didn't use a high temp glue.

Tucson aint that hot. Its nice weather compared to some of the places in AZ. Phoenix on the average is a good 5+ hoter. Another hot place is Lake Havasu City. So Tucson aint to bad. The main thing to think of is that all cars get hot while under the sun. Any car company should take this into account so nothing like this should be going on with his car. Also depending where that temp sensor probe is, it could have been setting in the sun to, so it got heated up greater then the real temp so it read a bad temp back. What color car do you have nick?

Yeah thats a good color then. If it was black it would be even hoter . Maybe you got your car before all the glues & things could dry. So you get a some what still tacky glue into AZ heat & it might keep it from drying hence your current problem. Thats about the only thing I can guess about.

The panels and stuff I'm sure are assembled months before the car even goes together. I very much doubt that is the issue.

Looking at Nick's panel the other day, it'd be very easy to pull back the fabric and add some spray adhesive to the panel, but it IS bubbling. I've seen it.

Yes, it gets hot here. But that's bull____. There's no reason that should happen. My '00 Solara is black with black interior, with nary an interior issue such as this, and most of the upper panels are fabric covered, similar to the tC.

Nick's car is cursed. We all know this. I blame 90% of it on Scion, and 10% on Nick.

yea i think after years the interior, that japanese paper quality thingy is gonna break out. i mean it feels like it could be easily peeled.. the heat might burn tiny holes into the fabric. im sure as hell its gonna get dirty with lint. i dont like black and gray interior (messes up quicker and easily noticeble).... unless its leather.

just buy some armor all products... clean with the multi-purpose cleaner and cover it with the ultra shine...

your interior will be ALOT SHINIER. maybe shinier then when you first got your car. well actually it is... ARMOR ALL IS GOOD

Yah, I use meguiars tech protectant on the interior, but you can't use any sort of that stuff on the carpeted parts.

I could take an afternoon, pull the car apart, pull the fabric up, reglue it all, fix the rattles. I've been working on cars for years and can easily fix all the issues besides what the dealer broker/messed up, but its a new car and underwarranty, and there is no reason that I should have to deal with any of this. Tommorow I'll find out what the dealer is going to do for me in order to fix these problems. I'll post and let you people know how it goes. If they can't resolve these issues in a timely manner, then I will simply go get quotes to have the problems fixed at a compentent shop, and then take toyota/scion to small claims court over the cost of the repairs. Its totally ridiculous that I even have to consider this crap with a new car, but so far this whole scion experience has been one of the worst decisions in my life. I honestly cannot recommend this car to anyone. I understand stuff can and will go wrong, but the way they fix the issues and support the customers is key, and right now Scion isn't upholding their end of the deal.

I recommend you sell your tC and get something else. I hear the new Pontiac G6 is a nice looking automobile and it's a domestic, so you'll have years of trouble free service.

Highlighted for irony. But seriously, Nick does have a dud of a tC, at least it seems. It's not like he WANTS this ____ to happen, but it is. No other tC is having the amount of problems Nick is having (at least on the boreds). I sincerely hope you get some retribution for the matter Nick.

Same material as the headliner and that stuff.

I called Scion HQ to help solve the problems on Friday. They said the customer service rep from the dealer would call me Monday to make sure I'm taken care of. They also said they would call me on Tuesday to follow up on what the dealer was doing and to make sure I'm happy. Well, no calls from either of them. Great service.
