I can't help you as far as repairing your seat, but here's a tip: Don't smoke in your car. Don't let anyone smoke in your car. Don't even follow someone who is about to throw out a cig

I throw out cigs all the time. ...Well, at least I do when the cops aren't looking. Crappy cops LOVE to give out littering tickets for that. Here in Cali, it's a mandatory 8 hours of picking up trash AND a $300 dollar fine.

$1,500 fine for throwing burning object - and I will snap your pic and call CHP if I see you.

ESPECIALLY here in California like now when it's high fire danger.

I still don't understand why that's somehow acceptable to litter when it's a cig butt. I think we need to add another fee for cleanup costs.

The odds of you catching me and snapping a picture [you better have proof of me in the act] while i'm throwing out the cig are slim, son. And if I catch you snapping my picture on the road, I'll stop you and beat the ____ out of you! I've done this more than once when people decide to flip me off and run. I enjoy this kind of thing immensely.

Oh, and it is $300 because I was given a warning by a cop when I did this [I knew the guy]. Yeah, I know it's wrong, but I do it anyway. See you out on the road.

Throwing a cigarette out of a moving window is that big of a crime???? Now, I do smoke and do it all of the time, but that's somewhat besides the point. The only way that I would get ____ed off is in the rare "known to somewhat happen" occasion that it lands in someone else's car, then definitely the smoker/driver is 100% and beyond responsible, but throwing an inch long piece of burning paper is going to make a difference in this day and age????? Meaning that how many companines legally and illegally dump only God knows what into our environment and our current Administration can start a war "if" they see fit, that a burning cigarette butt (when it doesn't land in someone else's car and doesn't start a fire) deserves an actual fine????? Bottom line, us smokers are annoying, I'll admit that, but there's worse things in this world that deserve attention from police, such as gangbanging, drug dealing, domestic abuse, illegal immigrants, people driving without licenses, murder, rape, ETC. Come on now guys, police attention should be diverted to more important, serious issues than littering an inch of burning paper.

It's all about the fine! 300 to 1500 for tossing out a cig is quite alot to put into the city's coffers. Here in Orange County, police are now being instructed to check for emission modifications in the engine compartment. Fines BEGIN at $2000 for the first offense! It's all about da money...
