The tCs (and other Scions) do not come with them installed. There is a place for one behind the glove box.

Midas is just trying to sell you something. And no, the dealer will not give you one. They're like $25 or something. But most people that want one just go to Home Depot or something and buy a piece of filter there and cut it.

or just go to advance auto parts and get a 05 xB cabin air filter pre-made for $7 and it fits perfectly. I got the purolator myself and $7 isn't bad for a pre-made one with a 3 minute install...don't waste your time making one yourself.

^ Ya, that's a good point. They should be the same size.

Scion does not reccomend using one because they say it interferes with ac air flow. However, I have never noticed a negative impact to the system running one.

Use the writeup on here for the xB, get yourself some websorber filter from home depot and make 6 or so of them. It will come out to a couple of bucks per filter.

yeah i just went to walmart and got a big filter for like 10 bucks, and i can make 4 filters out of it. Really easy to do, and the biggest difference i see is the lack of dust and shizzel in my vents anymore! yay! :D

since in oregon, they do not have advance auto parts (weak!), would autozone or shucks have one?

The xB cabin filter also fits the Echo and Rav4--but no mention of fitting a tC

The dealer told me the same thing. They said they would not recommend installing one.

yes any parts store should have standard cabin air filters. Just get one for a 2005 xB and it will fit fine.

Or just make your own Ultra allergen filteration one lol. No viruses, bacteria, etc in the air, doubt the oem filters do that. Oh and if anything ever does happen to your HVAC system...just take the filter out before you bring it in...they'll never know

If you have seen the air filter after about 3 months when you change them...you will want to have an air filter there...the things that you see on the air filter can scare you! Imagine all those things spraying you in the face when you had the air conditioner on or just outside air coming in.

x2 This is a new vs. used from my tC. The used filter was only used for about 2.5 months on recirculated a/c only. With the windows down every now and then as well.

Mine was dirtier than that!! Oh and by the way...I think you are putting in the air filter in wrong...the wires should not be the side where it's recieving the dirt and stuff.
