Default Calculated my gas mileage .. its what sticker says

I went to San Jose last week from Long Beach.

After going around 325 miles I made a stop to get gas and filled 10.99
So 325/10.99 = 29.57 mpg
That was going around 70mph and messing around w/ ppl by speeding up to 90 and back a few times.

I did it again on my trip back .. but this time i went 85mph w/ a quick rush to 120mph. Then a few rounds to get to 90 mph ... it was 365 miles even ...

I forgot how much i filled but i calculated it and it came out to 29.05 mpg

so highway driving really is 29mpg =P

A/C off, I presume? I find I get much better mileage when I don't use the A/C. My city mileage with no A/C is better than my highway mileage with.

I was totally pushing my tC hard on the way back ... especially when you pass that IKEA distribution center adn go into the hills ... i was passing up everyone but then a Mercedes E something AMG passed me up ... i was like "whoa"

California gas is expensive, not necessarily bad. I get 27 to 29 on my 5spd with AC on 80% of the time, mostly highway driving. I'm usually driving pretty fast, so I assume I could improve my mileage a little by slowing down. But that just wouldn't be as fun!

I'm getting ____ty gas milage. About 22 on my last tank. That was about 50% city and 50% freeway. But then when I do drive on the freeway it's stop and go traffic so maybe that's the problem. I use 87 octane Shell. :?

why does it cost everyone like $11 to fill up but my tc is always eating like $18-$20 from 1/4 tank of gas and ive been confused all along because this is a 14.5 gallon tank and it eats more gas than my 15.9 ford probe did!!!

any ideas whats goin on?? this isnt a one time thing like i was letting gas accidentally spill out either

Nobody mentioned any dollar values in this thread. Everybody's talking about the number of gallons the car takes.

Normaly the grade of gas would have no affect. Normaly a higher grade just fights off the chance of pinging, knocking etc.. If your car is not designed to use a higher grade gas it wont do any good other then make your wallet lighter. In my courent car I ran 92 one time & got the worse gas milage I ever did.

Octane will not affect the MPG of a car. You are only wasting your money if you purchase higher octane than the recommended 87. Most tCs are getting the published 25-29 MPG. If you are 2-3 MPGs below or higher, you probably are not calculating the MPG correctly.
