where are the clips that hold the vents in the top of our HVAC center waterfall??
I have to get this thing out to drop off for painting today.

Yup, no separate clips really, it's built into the waterfall; just grab the sides and pull. The top half comes off before the second half. Pull straight out, don't go side to side or you might break the "clips".
Like what they ^^^ said, just carfeully pull it outward starting from the bottom. Like you I'd want to see where those "clips" (claws) are located so I can be extra carfeul.
Oh, be sure to close the cover first.

alright well there is a big ___ vent behind the entire waterfall which the heat comes out of then goes through the vents.
but you have to break them off. why do you need them removed anyways?

The vents cannot be removed, not sure about the ducting behind it though.
yeah from what i remember they are built in with the waterfall, the duct behind it also looks like it goes into the dash pretty deep i wouldnt mess with it
but jsut tape over the vents if you're painting it
