Default Car Alarm Question????

I just bought the Viper 5900. Could someone give me an estimate on how much I should be paying for the install. I called a couple shops and they were asking for $200+, thats more than what I paid for the alarm.

Thanks!

It really depends on where you are. Here in the bay area, it ranges from $80 to $250 even maybe $300.

200 bucks for "more" protection when it comes to theft...Tough decision..

i bought the viper 791xv alarm/remote start for my previous car.. i had one of my boys install it for $100 but he installed the following as well..

-motion sensor
-back up battery
-trunk release (keypad)
-window automation (keypad)
-window smash sensor
-air horn

he also installed something on the radio's harness ( i had the eclipse avn7000 at the time). if you took out the harness, the alarm would go off.

try finding something cheaper. don't install it with just anyone tho cause you're car will end up getting stolen. over here, local installers tend to manipulate the alarm and take off with your baby. you'll be surprised how many times it's happened.

If you know how to tap and find wires its pretty easy. Only thing that I find is difficult is that you don't have much space to work.

so its just like regular electrical work, no special things required then? Reason I ask is I couldn't justify spending 200 bucks when I could do it myself. That's just me tho.

Its a piece of cake to install if you have some knowledge of basic electronics and you can use a multimeter.
