Default Car cat repellent?

This could probably apply to any car, but since I have a tC, I'll post it here. Mods, if you feel this should be moved, go ahead.

I work night shift, so I usually get home around 11:30p or midnight. I drive a good 45 minutes to get home, so when I arrive, my engine is good and hot..

We have stray cats running rampant in my neighborhood at night. It sucks. They dig around in my mom's flower beds in the front yard, hide their...goodies in the dirt, and then decide to WIPE AND WARM UP THEIR DIRTY PAWS ON THE HOOD AND ROOF OF MY CAR!!!!

Lucky for me, these stray cats are well-groomed; they haven't left any scratches on my paint (yet). *knock knock* But the dirt is really set in and a regular everyday Washington rainfall won't easily wash it away. My family and I are pretty tired of it.

I was thinking of getting a bunch of sonic repellents (click), but I'm not sure if they actually work, or if there's a pretty good alternative to it. If anyone's got any ideas, feel free. Before you ask -- my house has a two-car garage; my mom parks in one, and my kid brother has his car docked in the other one while he's away at college. So I'm pretty screwed out of parking in the garage.

So yeah, any ideas?

If there are stray cats... call the SPCA to alert them. Maybe they can come pick some of them up.

Probably the most cost effective, permanent solution is to get a car cover. This will also help with the rain.

If they have become a problem then I would call animal control.

maybe .22 CAL pellet gun. You may want to practice somewhere else first, bullet holes are harder on paint than paw prints.

Set up a Cat-A-Pult...

A friend of mine has an electric mat that he puts on his car. Kitty steps on it and gets zapped. Kitty learns lesson quickly.

Bittering spray. Spray your driveway down.

That, or get flypaper and put it sticky side up over the top of your car. Flypaper might be a little extreme (less than bullets) but cats hate having their paws stick to things. They'll learn quickly that way... Hosing them down will work for a couple nights, then they'll be back.
