Default Car is quicker than I anticipated

I will not say faster because I try to drive the speed limit. But man is the acceleration good. Much quicker than my 127hp 2500lb Vtec Civic. Trying to shift gears before it hits 4000RPM is a real chore the way the powerband rises so fast. I thought this would be a sporty looking economy coupe, never figured it would have this much quickness. I am looking forward to 1000 miles on the odometer and my first oil and filter change so I do not have to shift at 4000RPM anymore.

i drive auto, accelration is soft, but when i push it a bit hard, it just go to 65 in no time. love it. (forgive me coming from 93 corolla, never drive a car with 90 or more hp)

anyway, in auto, 75 is at 3k rpm, guess that save a some gas compare to manual. that's why i got auto instead of manual, doing my part to save the envirement.

It's a blast isn't it. My Black Cherry is quite fast. I was out on a two lane with some twisties by the Arkansas River and a late Model Mustang GT came up on me fast. As we approached a fast sweeping corner I entered it at 50 mph and punched it in it's apex, the backend felt like it was glued to the ground. The Mustangs rearend swung out and wasn't nearly as composed as my TC. As I approached 6500 rpm in 3rd and shifted to 4th it was quite an addrenilane rush!! It's very quick and has great control, it really feels like a more powerful car than the stat's describe.

I was surprised by the power as well. My 2002 Civic SI went pretty well but you just feel that torque kick in on the TC. The Civic was ok but it never performed the way I wanted it to, even after 3K invested. As the dealership drove it away yesterday and handed me the keys to my TC I wasn’t sad to see the SI go.

Curious, although a separate topic, how did your trade-in experience go with your SI? I have heard that Scion dealers per their franchise agreement must give you Actual Cash Value (ACV) which is basically wholesale price. What was your experience?

I've test drove an Auto, and a Manual...

Auto - nice
Manual - HOLY SH*T :o

seriously, there's a huge difference in acceleration...

that is what convinced me to get a manual...

I have a 1990 Civic 4dr with the 2000 short block swaped  . Its nice and quick.

I would have to say that the Tc is just as fast :D . I have not had a chance to go head to head..........yet.

I still have the civic so if anyone wants to run (at the track) I live in Bradenton Fl.

Just let me know and we can post the results.

About my SI trade, they gave me bluebook for it, I took it and ran. Although Honda's are known for being great cars and I've owned 5 of them now (1 Accord, 2 preludes and 2 civics). The 2002 SI was the worst of them with just over 16,000 miles I had already had my entire front end replaced (wheel bearings, axles, CV joints went out, struts replaced (It was stock not lowered at that time) not to mention the transmission grinding all the time.

Scion did well with trade I was glad to get what I got for it.

To the guy who's getting the Manual due to the accleration differences, LOVE IT, LOL!!! I got the Auto cause I've never raced and never really care to, but I do love the accleration for what it's worth!!! It's a nice little car, isn't it????

Overtaking slow-___ SUVs on the freeway has never been easier.... and hearing that TRD exhaust kick in almost gets me hard LOL. Yeah, it's a great car, and it's only going to get better

Does the exhaust drone? I've seen the video's and people say it sounds good in person but I do a lot of highway driving at 70-85 mph, how does it sound at those speeds?
