I'll have about 50 less WHP and about 10 less WTQ with a WRX (Cobb Accessport stage 2, up-pipe, headers, and turbo-back) but it will be a hell of lot faster to 50-60. You have no idea how annoying it is to not be able to accelerate fully until you're going about 50-60 MPH. 1st gear just doesn't make boost and second gear will snap the tires loose at about 4psi. And if it's raining, lol, forget about boost at all, 4th gear won't even stick. So in theory, my tC is faster and should pull harder, but it isn't and it doesn't. If you've ever driven an Evo/WRX/STi, you know how hard those things pull when you hit boost. A stock Evo (about 240WHP and 3400lbs) "feels" faster than my tC, simply because the power kicks in much harder with the turbo. A small turbo running higher boost just 'feels' faster than a bigger turbo running lower boost. 1st and 2nd gear pull much harder than 4th and 5th.
So my options are throw 3k more into the tC by getting an LSD and much better tires, or just sell it all, have a lower payment, have lower insurance, have no traction issues, and have a much more practical car.
I know where you're coming from, and I love my tC, but at the same time, I hate it. I've had this one for about 18 months, and I had another one before it for 3 years...I'm bored with it. I have always wanted a WRX...I used to love the 22B, I almost got an 02 WRX as my first car, and now that my friend just bought an 02 wagon, I've been on NASIOC a lot...and it's making me want one so much more now.
I have everything basically planned out. The only thing I'm doing, power-wise, is the Cobb Accessport and a full exhaust. That alone will get a WRX to 230WHP/270WTQ (on the 2.5, 250WTQ on the 2.0).

Get the 5-spd. The 6-speed is notorious for being garbage. Trust me, my friend had a 390WHP 9 MR and the trans went bye bye.

Yea i know what you mean. My buddy has a 06 wrx with TBE intake and the cobb access and the thing pulls pretty good. This is making me want to not get the ptuning kit now and go buy a wrx lol.
Is insurance really lower on a wrx than the tC? I never really looked into it.

For me, insurance is cheaper, not much but it's cheaper. Right now I pay $284 a month for my tC and a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee, for me and my Mom (I pay for the whole bill). With the WRX, it'll go down about $40-50 a month. Not much, but it's still cheaper.
And the thing with 'pull' is the fact that the tC's powerband is very linear. If I'm at 4k RPM and I punch it, my car pulls pretty hard. If I'm at 2000 RPM and I punch it, it kinda just goes. I let my friend Tom drive it so I could feel it from the passenger seat (cars ALWAYS feel faster when you're not in control) and I was like "wtf, is he flooring it?" vs his old Evo (390WHP) where he floored it and I thought "hooooooooooollllllllllyyyyy FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK"
Also, another thing great about the WRX, is that it hits it's TQ curve at a very low RPM (2300-2600) whereas I don't peak until 4000. And I made the HP line too high, I'll probably only have about 230WHP.

Also, one thing I don't like about the new engines, is that they're nowhere near as torquey as the 06-07. An 07 2.5L with a stage 2 Accessport tune and full exhaust has damn near 340ft-lbs (Cobb advertises +46% TQ over stock at the flywheel), whereas the new WRX only has 244ft-lbs.

They advertise flywheel gains, and you're also forgetting that there is a $10-$13,000 price difference between an 07 and 09. For the price of an 09 WRX, I can get an 07 STI.
