Default Check Engine Light

Hey does any one know how to reset the check engine light when you hit the 5000 mile mark to change your oil?

I used up the free oil changes with Toyota that they offer when you buy the car and need to do it now again but don't want to take it in. I would rather change the oil myself and not have that light still on.

Unfotunatly it is activated by milage and not by the engine oil viscosity...

well you could read your owners manual.

set trip odometer to odometer turn car off. push the button back in and hold it, turn key to on and it will flash 5 bars. wait till they all go away and your done.

You mean the "MAINT REQ" light.

1st set the odometer to actual miles and not on trip mode.
2nd press and hold the odo button with the ign. off
3rd turn on ign. while holding odo button
4th the odo displays 5 dashes and counts down til it zeros out.

You're done.
