Default Checking tC's Reliability...

I'm looking to find out what is the oldest (in miles) scion tC out there. Also, if you have had any major problem with the engine/transmission. This way we can sell our tC before reaching the problematic mileage. Let me know.

I have 47,000 on my 2005.

Is it exactly the same engine as the camry?

yup! Camry's 4 cylinder model 2.4 L 2AZ-FE I4 that has been in production since 2002 shared on the solara/camry the tranny is slightly differ than the sedans version from my understanding anyone correct me if I'm wrong! this engine has been around for 5 years including Australia in the heat and the Camry has higher ratings than Honda in the Aussie heat!!!!! so reliability no issue ....now the roof???????

hehe... I guess it's pretty obvious I'm a noob. I didn't realize that I was posting on the wrong forum and now I don't know how to change it... any suggestions to change or delete this?

As for the other people who posted, thanks for answering despite being on the wong forum, I'll watch out next time

the 2azfe has been proven for 200,000miles in the camry many times before. The 2azfe in our cars is indeed the same engine with a slight change. we have diffrent main bearings i belive adding a little more strength as well as diffrent pistons, rings and cam. The tranny is based on the camrys with diffrent gear ratios and extra syncros on first and second gears. so far many many people have made over 320hp on a stock bottom end with no problems. Dezod is the only scion tuner i know of that has broken a drivetrain part aside from clutches wich hold to near 300hp. (they broke a cv shaft launching HARD.) This car is proving extremly abuse and boost friendly. I could have purchased a more expensive car but until the supra comes out this is my choice!
