Default Clearbra = the first thing you should do to your TC

Just got mine installed, covers the entire front bumper, half of the hood, mirrors, from fenders, front of the side skirt behind the wheels, the rear bumper behind the rear wheels, and part of the doors.

This was from an official Clear Bra dealer/installer. Paid less than $400 for EVERYTHING where the other ClearBra installer quoted me $600.

You can't tell the clear bra is even on there unless you look really hard for the line. If you care about your car, this is a very cheap investment.

I don't think I'm going to purchase one, I've never really been a big fan of these. It's a great concept but it just isn't what I'd want to slap on the front of my car.

Where are you located? (I don't know what "West PDX" means.)

On the east coast, I've had trouble locating qualified installers. I spoke to somebody in Baltimore, but it would have run me about $1000 installed. I figure if I get tired of filling paint chips 5 years from now, I can spend half that and have the front bumper repainted. If I could get it for $400-$600, I would have already done it.

I only paid $345 for the entire kit and they did alot of extra custom work.

These guys also did the clear bra on my S2000 and WRX. The S2000 is only a yearold and it still looks as clear and new as when they installed it. The WRX was 3 years old and it only looked bad, because it was scuffed up from all of the rock chips, still was as clear as I bought it, no yellow.

When I traded the WRX in, they pulled off the clear bra for me and the front bumper & hood looked clean, no chips anywhere. The dealership even commented on how good the car's paint looked for a 3 year old car with alot of high way miles.

The 3M stuff will yellow, this stuff won't. Living in Portland where they gravel the roads during the winter, it's a must.

What brand is the film? I had mine done with the 3M stuff and it cost me 130. I didn't do the bumper tho, just the hood, the sides (a little) and the back of the mirrors. I can definetely see where the bra is, but only when I get really close. I think it's coz my car is white. The guy did tell me it would get yellow in a few years. I didn't even know some brand other than 3M did this...

Don't remember what the brand material was (know it's not 3M), but they give it a lifetime warranty and if it does yellow, crack, or turn brittle, they will repair it free of charge.

My dealer has the clear bra stuff installed on their BSP demo... you really can't see it when its on... you have to be standing next to it to really see the lines where the clear bra ends...

The material looks pretty thin too...

Won't be until next week, I have to wait until I get my cam back and I might as well take pics the same time I grab pics from my HID install.

Im not a fan of Bra's.

If your going to cover up the front of the car, whats the point? Does anybody think bra's actually look good?

Its the same as people leaving those plastic sheets over electronic screens (alarm clocks, small lcd's, etc). Sure, the screen wont get scratched, but instead you're looking at an ugly cover up.

i wish they made a precut kit for our car.. maybe a group buy or something to make it alot cheaper and we install it ourselves.

Are these comming precut or is the installer cutting to fit?

The one I looked into was pre-cut. I still don't think you would want to do it yourself. A majority of the people who do this professionally know what they're doing and do a very good job. In my area, they don't come cheap. I wouldn't try to put a clear bra on my car any more than I would try to tint my own windows.

WTF are you taking about.

It's not an ugly cover up. It optically clear urethane, you can't see it unless you walk up to the car and really look for where the film stops and the paint starts again.

What's the point? To protect your paint, you aren't altering the vehicle's look in anyway.

Whats the point?

Is it easier to clean the bug guts off?

If you get some serious rock richochet isn't it going to cut through the clear bra and scratch the apint anyway?

I never liked bras. leather bras inevitable gets some dirt trapped under it which scratches the paint. and even if you avoid that, there seems to be a noticable "tan" line after about 5 years.

Clear Bras always sound to be me like an "undercoating" deal. Just my opinion but I don't think its worth it.
