Default Cold outside = Stripping?

Hey guys,

I have a quick question about when you first start your car in the cold (20 degrees). I let the car warm up for about 2 minutes and then start going. But when i shift from 1st to 2nd, its really hard to get it into 2nd. It seems like itsstripping the gears or something but you dont hear anything. You feel resistance and grinding sort of. Anyonee else have this? Once driving for a minute or so, its fine. Thanks.

The tranny lube is still thick from being so cold. What you feel is the syncro's trying to get into gear. Just don't be to forceful until you get down the road a little way and the grease warms up a bit. My box is the same way. Alot of the cars I had were like this, it's pretty much normal.

Every M/T car I've owned has done this. Try to let your car warm up for a few extra minutes. Saves a lot of unneccasary wear and tear on your motor and tranny.

while it's warming up, push in the clutch and run it through all the gears a couple of times.

Yes, do this. Just don't be too forceful. You'll find if you run through all the gears a couple times (e.g. 1, 2, 3...repeat) that it'll be smoother once you get going.
