Rumors that Toyota will market its Subaru co-developed rear-wheel-drive coupe as a Scion in America have been swirling around the net ever since the two Japanese automakers made their plans official this spring. But now we've received word that it's true. According to our inside source, Toyota officials in the U.S. confirmed that the affordable RWD coupe will indeed arrive in the States in late-2010 / early-2011 as the new Scion TC. Further details weren't provided but from what we know up until now, both the Toyota / Scion and Subaru variants of the two-seater compact coupe will get an all-new platform with power coming from a new 2.0-liter four-cylinder boxer engine producing around 200HP.

Toyota officials also told our source that the iQ minicar will be heading to the States as the latest addition to the Scion line-up. Even though it is apparent that the iQ and the RWD TC will target a different segment of the young or young-at-heart audience, company officials are certain that both vehicles will do their part to spice-up the Scion brand's youthful / hip image.

me either..i love my tC...plus if they make a tC replacement they better not name the new car tC something else would be more suitable.

 

the next car i get is not gonna be a tC that's fersureee, G37s or 370z.

 

did you see the new 370? I hated it at first and I still kinda do hate the looks of the heads and tails but when you keep lookin at it..it kinda grows on you. Im starting to like it..haha its like when the o8 grills came out..I hated them but now they grew on me.

 

haha yeah i have seen it, took awhile for it to grow on me too. but now i cant get over it i want one.... i love the roof and the back end.

I can't stand pretty much all the new models/redesigns Nissan & Co. is coming out with. Rogue, G37 coupe, Maxima, Murano, FX, 370Z, Versa, EX all look worse than their previous gens.

 

the new maxima's and FX's look amazing to mee. all the others are pretty gross i agree.

 

I'm kinda iffy on the Max. Interior is way better than the previous gen but that QX looking front fascia is something I'll have to get used to.

2.0L producing around 200hp... sounds turbo charged H block.

I may want the 2az-fe from the current tC in there. the current tC blocks are like mini 2jz's- performance potential is through the roof!

the fact that subaru is gonna be working on the car scares me though--- have you seen how fugly the late model subies are???

I want Subaru out! because if anything, toyota is VERY capable of making amazing RWD chassis on their own! (2 words- supra, mr2)
