Cubby light? What cubby light?

I cannot find this so called light...

I'm assuming it is not the rear trunk light when you open the hatch.

Anyone have pictures?

I tried searching where the front cig outlet is and there are no lights there... nothing turning on etc...

Maybe the 06 doesn't have it?

maximus96 09-01-2005 11:35 PM

its the light right under the radio, next to the cig adaptor

CuseHokie 09-01-2005 11:48 PM

ARGGGG

!$^@&^%&%@#!@#%

So my cubby light, after further research and taking off the gearshift concole and ripping some of the carpetting off, was just kind of laying there behind everything...

Apparently it wasn't even sitting in the little housing that it pops into..

Grrr... I wish I had gotten a blue bulb to match the LED enhancement... instead I have white, because I mistook "cubby" to mean the rear hatch area, since I knew of no other cubby light until just now!

ack154 09-02-2005 12:01 AM

Many people have simply removed theirs or like you suggested, put in another bulb to match something else.

CuseHokie 09-02-2005 12:04 AM

Oh, I did... but I did not know the "cubby light" referred to this, because I didn't know this light EXISTED since it wasn't where it was...

It was sitting on all the wires, well behind my dash...

Had I known that this light existed originally, I would have bought blue...

Anyways, I emailed superbrightled.com or whatever to see if they'd make an exception for me... I don't want to pay $5 shipping for a $1.19 bulb. :)

I did $27 of business with them already, maybe they'll be cool...

how do you take out the cubby light bulb? My fat hand cant fit in there.

StatuSCheckA 12-10-2005 02:23 AM

They wont make an exception, lol.

But i think you are supposed to get to it from the back.....but again, remeoving the consol only takes about 5 mins.

Remove the console, pull out the light socket, switch the bulb, put it back in.

gjpjr84 12-10-2005 10:37 PM

the same happened to me, the light wasn't even plugged into the little hole.

but lucky me I knew where it was supposed to be and got the blue one in there. i must say it looks awesome and matches the accent lighting perfectly! so do the other blue bulbs I put in the domes.

i see you also have a NB, I have not heard of this happening in another car before.

iowagary 12-10-2005 11:21 PM

If you want to go in the front, you're going to need to take apart a lot of stuff. Come in from the passengers side, and remove the little clip that keeps the carpet up. With some wiggling, your fat hand will probably fit back there.

surfcity40 12-11-2005 05:55 AM

it is a#74 bulb (T1.5) 1 Watt wedge bulb. it is easier to get to the bulb from behind the console, passenger side. do not pull it from the cubby.

you can get other color bulbs here or here.

gl...again, don't pull the bulb from inside the cubby. it's an easy reach around from behind.

tcholic 12-11-2005 07:58 AM

that light is annoying when you drive cause its soo bright...

bpu_TC 12-11-2005 08:39 AM

Sweet...Blue cubby light here i come!

krdshrk 12-11-2005 03:45 PM

It wasn't THAT annoying. Then I switched it out with a blue LED... THAT was a lot more noticeable. Then i got used to it and don't even really see it anymore :P

i managed to get a hold of the socket, through the back, but no matter which way i turn or pull it, it wont loosen. What should i do now?

gjpjr84 12-21-2005 12:20 AM
