There's not an abundance of good things in the State of Kansas, but when it comes to personalized plates I have to give credit. License plates here are issued by county, so basically that means that each of the 100+ counties in Kansas can actually have the same personalized plate...each one with a different county designator sticker in the upper left hand corner. It's damn-near impossible to ever have your personalized plate request refused unless somebody in the same county you live in has the same personalized plate you want.

Has anyone ever tried something like this? I've always wondered if the DMV are prepared for these. This combination of letters/numbers was on the side of the plane featured on the cover of the Beastie Boy's "Ill Communication" and reads a lot differently when read through a rear view mirror.

That would be hilarious, especially if its like MA where we have to have front and rear plates....it would show up perfectly in someones rear view mirror as you come up on them.

Someone in Iowa tried this (Barry Lee McMahon if you want to look it up) but was forced to turn them in. One of my professors, who was a lawyer and knew the story, told us he tried to get the plates back by starting a small business that used those letters, thereby justifying them. Can't remember the name he came up with, but that's pretty clever.

I like my DMV issued one the best. I can't remember the plate, which is good because that means others won't either.;)

Now I know the fool who took my idea...gotta find something else then. Is it a good idea to put your name on your plate? I was thinking of "TONGS TC."
