Default Custom Overlays Question

I have read the tech article on installing the batmobiles overlays however I cannot find any precut overlays to fit my vehicle the way I want them too. I drive a 1996 BMW so I was wondering if anyone would know how to produce this? Isn't it just some type of decal placed over the lenses? I would just like to smoke out a couple lights.

Also the reason I am posting it here is because I am an avid tC lover and I remember someone discussing them and I am afraid posting it in the actual tech article will not turn any results.

Thanks for your help!

you dont need precut..
precuts a biatch n e ways...
just buy a whole roll of oracal orafol transluent 8300 series dark grey 0073
thats what i did for the tC
and mine turned out great..
i tinted the tails and sidemarkers..
and all those little annoying "red" push buttons
are now black...
its quiet worth it
only 40 bucks for a 15" by 30' roll
or a set of tail lights for blue bat for 35 lol....
have fun.

Would you happen to know where I can buy some of this? Maybe there should be some kind of tech article about this.

If you could help me out NoShiO I would be so thankful.

its simple...
if you live in the district of a Oracal Factory.. you can buy direct
or you have to have a really nice Vinyl/Sign/Graphic shop
that will order it for you
i got mine from my neighbor.. he does signs for a living
and now he helps me do cars...

its called oracal orafol 8300 transparent series dark grey 073

good luck...
if your having problems i could try to order some for you...
other wise i could save some of my next roll for ya...

hvae a nice day

I don't really know of any shops in my area. Basically is it just a transparent decal thats dark grey and gives you the smoked look?

Here's a suggestion. Use some Glad Press and Seal Wrap, stick it over the taillight. Outline it carefully with a sharpie, pull the glad wrap off, stick it down to the tint material and cut it out. I've had good luck with this method on several things, depends on how curved the surface is, may need to leave a little extra, etc...

So could I use it to only cover a small portion of tail lights? I am assuming I can.

Do you know if there is a website that sells some? I don't need that much sense I only plan on using it on a small portion on my tail lights my entire front corner lights and small side markers. can you buy it in smaller amounts than the 15" by 40' roll?
