its been about a week but finally got through with some test for school and got a chance to work on this today ....

here is a rough assembly of what were are thinking about and how we are thinking of mounting it (weighing in at about 14 - 17 lbs). The design is not set in stone, but if distributed there will be no drilling required and all hardware will be included. We will be working with some material in the next couple of weeks to get an actual prototype built.

Hope you all like it, let me know what you guys think.

from the looks of it, the 2 front holes are going to go were the front bumper tabs screw into the bottom part of were the radiator lays on top of. thats what it looks like to me i could be wrong.

no that is correct Skeet!
the rear portion of the skid plate will be mounting to the subframe crossmember (as there are not many places to mount underneath the TC) right where the suspension is hung from.

....definitely watching too. I'm not tucked but I am dropped and some roads out/up here really suck for cars like ours. Even when being careful.
From the look of your idea(s) on design, count me in. Protection while NOT hindering airflow under the the engine bay needed for cooling. (especially in Summer temps).

Watching this! Definitely could use a skid plate on these rough PA roads!

Are there documented incidents of oil pans breaking on tCs? I've only seen skid plates for cars where the downpipe doesn't go under the engine (VWs, Neons, Mazda3s). The S pipe under the tC's engine kinda serves as a barrier and forces slightly more ground clearance, versus a fwd car with the exhaust manifold against the firewall. I wonder how many tC owners are willing to drop $250-300 for a skid plate. Its a cool project nonetheless.

You may not have seen the s-pipes of the people running low stance. The s-pipe becomes completely flattened out and has holes in it.
The s-pipe is not a solid enough component to withstand a couple thousand pounds of force or more.
