i didnt read your post but i think its the alumin. temp **** try holding it next ime...i need to go get mine checked cause i know its that on my car when i drive it rattles and its annoying as hell.
thanks for the response .. i dont know about the temp *** thing .. the sound seems to be coming from the air vent area ... its weird .. thanks for the tip tho .. i will try that
I had squeaking around the radio during the 2nd and 3rd months. The first month and the last month, 4th have been squeak free. That squeaking sound is annoying though. My Scion TC fixed itself and no more squeaking.
i got a rattling near my radio too... I'm guesing that its some loose screw or something in there.. its weird. I just give it a quick hit and it goes away for a lil bit..
I'm taking my car in to have it looked at this weekend

its from one of the springs (if you can call it that more like a bent peice of copper) that helps open and close your radio door. just pull it off and deal with a door thats ackward to open and close. or you can try some dynamat on it or that rubbized spray
just a thought

My door squeaks also. It used to be only on the highway, but now its almost constant (after i put on trd springs). Not that I have my tC anymore. I have a ____ty corolla while it gets repaired/repainted.
I'm afraid to ask my dealer to fix the squeak because last time they 'fixed'something ( the alignment) they tore a large piece off the front air dam. I can't afford to have the mechanics learn on my car anymore. Someone post a solution....

I have the squeaking radio door too. It only started after I replaced the stock HU with an aftermarket unit. It usually gets loud on bumpy roads or highways. I noticed if you push the cover down in certain places, it will stop the squeak.
I'll experiment by purchasing some foam tape and place it in certain spots behind the cover to hopefully stop the noise.

i dont know if its just me. maybe.... but anyways, ever since i got my car, i'va always had trouble opening that stupid door. i have to push on it multiple times just to open it. what the heck?!
I think I have found the squeaking source. If you pop the center console from the radio, disconnect the harness. THen, flip to the backside and look for this little black pin on the left side and right side. The pins are inserted into a groove that used to support the back side. THerefore, everytime you hit a bump or drive over some rough road, the pin will move against the groove and produce the extremely annoying squaeking. I am pretty sure I have found the source because I basically shake the whole piece and reproduce the squeak consistently.
I used WD-40 to spray on it and the squaeking was totally gone. However, after a week, the lubricant was spreaded too thin and the squaeking begins. I will buy some silicone grease (paste) to lube it and hopefully the sound will go away. If you have squaek, you may want to lube the pins and see if its helps.

im gettin a new radio door installed tomorrow (11/26/04) to see if the noise goes away .. also im gettin the door cuz im havin problems opening the door itself .. so we shall see what happens ...
Any news on this front?
I recently had an aftermarket HU installed and now have a this squeak which is actually quite loud. I took it back to the shop and they said they couldn't locate the rattle, but glued some parts to see if that would help. Well, it didn't, so I took the dash out myself and tightened a few screws. Worked for a bit but the squeaks came back shortly afterwards. When I get some time this week I'm gonna take it out again and see if can get the HU to stop moving around--when I hold it down it stops squeaking.
