Yea but that doesn't mean to keep using it like a point and shoot lol. Most of your shots are poorly cropped, crammed or random.
If you're going to use f1.8, use it in a manner that will create purposeful bokeh, not to just make the background blurry.

yeah the crammed-ness was bc of all the cars being close. i didnt crop anything, none of the pics were edited & the randomness is just random lolol.
thats the thing that confuses me idk if i should always shoot at 1.8 or what is good especially during what time in the day. teach me the wayssss jon lol. i personally like my pics but i know i need work.

cause i want a nikon grip if they even make one for the d40, my zeikos is good but when i wanna shoot vertically i have to change my settings to make the vertical button work. i dont mean i hate grips ingeneral. i never used my d40 without one.

Use 1.8 in only two instances, low light and when you want bokeh. You had it right with the RS5.0 shot on the interior, but you actually needed to be at a slightly higher aperture for that shot, because only a small section of the placard is in focus. But use it for shots like this.

Otherwise, stick to F/8, and always pay attention to the surroundings. Don't let poles or signs grow out of the car, like the 'caution' VW shot.
Oh, and the rule of thirds.

I don't remember which one I had. All I remember, is that I bought it, got home to put it on before leaving for Paris and it didn't fit, ran back to the store and exchanged it for the same one, but one that actually fit. The D40 grips are all basic battery grips, the D40 doesn't support any kind of secondary controls.
