Dealer checking for mods during oil changes?
I have the megan header & K&N CAI, if I bring my car in for an oil change are they going to put on the record that I have these mods?
I was figuring if I had any type of warranty problems I could just put everything stock back on.
Does anyone know if they check for mods during oil changes??

dealers over here do that. just change your own oil man if you are scared of them finding out or just take it somewhere else. you'll save alot of money by just taking it to jiffy lube or some other place.

I don't understand the anxiety. If you take your car in for an oil change and they do check for mods, r you worried about them voiding your warrenty? Cause if something ever does go wrong, unless you replace all the stock components they are gonna deny you anyway. and if you do replace the stock components they are going to notice abnormal wear and tear also and then the inquistion happens b4 they deny you.

I have 3 free oil changes left, that's the only reason I wanted to take it to toyota instead of doing it myself.
timmy - if something went wrong with the engine (internally), the only performance mods that could possibily cause that would be the header or the CAI. if I replace these parts with the stock parts then they would have no reason to void the warranty.
daewonder - they probably wouldn't change the oil on the lowered xB because most likely they couldn't get it on the lift because it was lowered. I highly doubt they'd say no to a oil change because of a header & CAI.

I said when they notice abnormal wear and tear. Wich they will. and if you have mods that didn't cause a malfunction you are taking to toyota to correct... then you have no worries.

I didn't have a ride home so a van gave me a ride home and picked me up when the car was done, for no charge at all.

I used my first free oil change at my dealer last week. I had to make an appointment 1 week in advance and still had to wait 2 hours. They noticed my CEL (from my headers), but I told them I knew about it and they didn't say anything else.

What about the servicing at 5k, 10k etc? There's not really an alternative to doing that, right? And they'll undoubtedly be looking around a lot more than if they were just changing the oil. Is there a way to work around that?
