Dealership calling me to buy my car.
i have a 2005 tC which I love dearly. I have in the last couple of months received multiple letters in the mail telling me that tCs are greatly in demand as used cars and that they will give me 100% kbb value to trade in. Today I got a call from the tool that I bought my car from. He tells me "We really need used tCs. I can give you a great deal on trading it in." I asked him how much and he said "11,000" That seems low compared to kbb. I told him where to stick his offer.
Why are they trying to take my car back? Has anyone else had this happen? If you're going to try to get me to trade in, make it worth my while. Like $13,000 and a goood deal on a new one. Maybe a free supercharger.

Complete rip off, don't do it. You can get more money from just selling it yourself than trading it for 11,000. Might as well keep it. It is just another way the dealership is just trying to make more money.
kbb on a 2005 is about $11,000. He offered you a fair price for it. I still wouldnt sell mine, i like it.
And reading again, you said trade in.. which is valued at a $9,000 - $10,000 for an 05 in good condition with 50,000 miles on it (I just based mileage off of mine). So if he is giving you $11,000 for trade in, it is better than blue book. Private party is under $12,000 for that car.

11 g isnt bad but its not worth tradeing it in they gave u 11 before looking at ur car thats crazy they dont even know anything about ur car. i sell cars and i make these phone call's all day but i just thell people that they have positve equady in there car. the best bet is to just keep ur tc and work on that there isnt much diffrence to change into another tc now if u were looking to get into a diffrent make thats a diffrent storey but for another tc isnt worth it
It's a marketing ploy to increase sales at the dealership. Don't kid yourself.
Dealers all over the country have been sending those letters to everyone. They don't "need" your used tC, they just NEED more people to come buy a new car from them, and this is one way to generate foot traffic in the showroom.

This is just a marketing scam. People on 9thgencorolla has received this message from dealers and ruled out as a scam. Not really worth it since they are trying to get you to trade and buy another vehicle from them.
i had the same thing with the letter because their "used car inventory" is getting low. i got that like 2 months aftter i got my 08 tc last summer ( was probably in august) and i laughed since it was an 08
I guess from their point of view it's a good deal. They won't dick me on the trade, but I lose all the upgrades I added and get a car exactly the same. It's a downgrade for me in every sense except for the fact that it is new. Them on the other hand can buy it for 11k, and turn around and sell it tomorrow for 16k. Plus I would be buying a car from them also. They make a quick net of at least 10k.
Pretty sneaky. The only way I'd do it is if they threw in all the mods I already have and gave me a 0% loan or something. I was just blown away that after the letters they actually had a salesman call my house. LOL.

kbb is known for dealer friendly car values. Low values for trade in so the dealer doesnt have to pay you as much, and higher values for used cars from the dealer, so the dealer makes more. Thats why they always tell you to check out the kbb price
Lexus did that when my '99 rx300 had over 100,000 miles on it. But they wanted to give me a "great deal". I said fine but i don't wanna shell out any money, they said $1000 a month for a new one! I did need a good laugh that day!!!
